Okay, let us not go there again. I try to fix this because I also see this on my box and it is annoying me as well, also a lot of other see this; as helpful as I am Big Grin I am interested in fixing, firstly for myself and if other can benefit as well: great! To be short: no one line of code has changed. Because I am personally interested why this is happing I am investing some time. I can see this and lots of others as well I know. Because I want to solve this for myself I am going to look into this. I am not trying to get it to run on everyones NMT. If it works for you; great if it doesn't too bad: use another torrent client (or even the default one!). That is why I do not set a ETA, when or even IF it's finished I'll post the findings here.

The last couple of posts where interesting, because I need to figure out why and in what conditions transmission/NMT is crashing. Some mixed responses there: limiting download speed, limiting peers, older firmware + older nmt apps. Way to fuzzy right now. I've had contact with Hugbug from NZBget, he said that the libraries from syabas is somewhat instable and that the nzbget builds use others, which are much more stable. Perhaps I will look into those as well.

So in short: for the time being use a torrent client that is stable for you. I am going to look into this, at my pace, period.

To quote somebody on the forums:
Quote:The whole NMT-enviroment seems to be not very stable under heavy load. You can't rely on user responses, because the same binary may work for hours or even days, then it stops. For example, one user reported the latest (stable) version of nzbget to not work for him well, but the latest testing build r291 works very well. The fact is that the stable version and testing-r291-version use the same source code (100%), the stable version has only updated README-file and version string.

Ger, you are a genius! And a wonderful person. Its nice to see someone is so helpful in these forums. Please take your time - no hurry!

Thanks for the support so far.
Update:

HDX hung again - exactly after one hour!
(03-15-2009 05:53 PM)Ger Teunis Wrote: [ -> ]For some reason your apps partition is full.
The harddisk is divided in 3 parts, 1 for applications (250mb), one for swap and the rest for media files (your 900gigs). I might suggest doing a complete reinstall of the NMT Apps (please read first post carefully, there is a link to a post that describes how).

I have the same problem of PEPPIN afther csi upload i get
Checking for harddisk: Done
Checking for transmission files: Done
Installing to HARD_DISK: tar: write error: No space left on device FAILED

Sorry, uncompressing transmission data has failed.
Try uploading content of zip using another ftp client or via samba.
Sometimes a different zip program may help

and also my bit torrent stopt working after the latest soft upgrade. (ctorrent worked fine then) So i did a complete reinstall and add the latest software on it (just refresh nmt apps didn't work and i had to manual stop all nmt apps to get it manged). But the problem stays when i install transmission 1.51.
Also BTPD 0.15.3 can't i instal it says:
Stopping current Application: Done
Installing new files: Done
Application already set to start on boot, skipping
cat: /mnt/syb8634/server/php5server/httpd_inc.conf: Input/output error FAILED: At least have one of the following NMT applications running: Usenet client, Casgle client or Torrent
enable one of the above mentioned applications on your NMT first (Setup -> NMT Applications)
Yes i tried all the possibilities for enable all or just one app.

But the good news is after the reinstall that the normal bit torrent is working again and fast..(whit 50peers 400kb/s)

So what is the problem latest soft, or my HDD going bad??
I have an HDX1000 running on the latest Firmware, I've installed Transmission 1.51-1 and am not experiencing any crashes at all. It might be because I can't seem to get any good speed out of any client I install (Transmission, cTorrent, BTPD 0.15) so maybe i'm not getting Transmission to a point that it crashes.

Depends upon the number of torrents you are downloading. More downloads/uploads, more CPU usage.
I've rebuild the transmission yesterday around 7pm and installed it on my PCH.
Also I added 3 high speed torrents with lots of peers, still running at 8am, more then 12 hrs now.
So, I think that is good enough. If you (anybody) still has stability issues please check if your NMT is not getting too hot, install a fan.
Otherwise use cTorrent or BTPD. NMT is sadly not a good platform for transmission, at least for some.

What was the sizes of torrents, in my case problem happens only if torrents are bigger than 8Gb and download speeds are more than 1Mbps.

Thanks, Ger! I installed Trans 1.40 and BTPD and looks like the torrent service is hung!
So cTorrent web interface is also not available. I will take your advice - either ctorrent or trans, but not both.

Can you pl tell wat exact technical changes were made this time?

No technical changes, just a clean build environment. It surely looks like there will be always people who experience crashes. Already heard reports of cTorrent, nzbget etc etc crashes. Users tend to see a correlation between issues which in reality are not there. Sadly the NMT is an unpredictable platform, for some at least.

Thank you for the good work!
Will give it a try again.

Latest firmware with the latest nmt apps.
Ps> still running stable here Smile 15 hrs and counting

Files size of the torrents ?
My Update:

Re-flashed firmware and installed NMT apps for HDX 1000.
Old transmission running on clutch web interface port 8077 with no torrents.
Installed cTorrent and Telnet daemon via CSI.
Ran 3 private torrents on cTorrent - 2 downloading (8gb,13gb) and 1 seeding (8gb)

Result:
NMT crashes in exactly 1 hour even without using built-in Transmission!

Yeah, i think it is not transmissio (only) but the load on your system itself that is causing your stability issues.
(03-31-2009 10:59 AM)ricardo.seromenho Wrote: [ -> ]Files size of the torrents ?

Uploading: 700mb, 4,43gb, 3,4gb, 3,34, 16gb, 16gb, 43gb, and 16gb.
Downloading: 20gb, 4,43gb, the others above are downloaded this night and some of them added to seed (downloaded before).
No limit on download speed, no peer limit, upload limit of around 85KB/s

ps> Still running strong, little jumpy but that is a know issue of transmission.

I will format my hard drive and update top the latest firmware. And install latest transmission from CSI.
It should work like your right ?
