The 300 has what are known as Apps Market Apps. These are very small apps that you download and install into the players firmware/nand.

These are podcast services such as Revision3, Youtube, BBC iplayer (UK only), RSS Feeds, etc.

There is also a developers api available for you to create your own Apps Market Apps with your own links.

You could also stream from your PC using the likes of VLC.

Perhaps if you stated which podcasts you want others may know of them?

I'm looking into getting a new media center and the C300 looks to be the one I'm after, but I have a few questions (don't we all!).

1) I have all my videos stored on a NAS, how long would it take to generate the cover art for say 1000 movie files?

2) I'll constantly be adding 1-2 movie files per week, does the cover art etc. re-scan your entire library or just the new files it currently doesn't have cover art for?

3) does the cover art require a computer to scrape/generate the information, or does the C300 do it on its own?

Massive thanks in advance to anybody who takes the time to answer my questions Smile

1) For a 1000 movies I'd count on a couple of hours.
2) It will only handle the new entries. If you want it to rescan the entire library, that's an option. It's also possible to rescan a single movie.
3) The C300 does it all by itself. No computer needed. There are some tools though to do manual maintenance on the database, should you want to. This sometimes proves to be handy in case of errors by the C300 (or at least the C200 I own).

Looking forward to buy the C-300 or A-300 and I want your advice,

All what I want is to play huge MKVs or ISO BDs from my PC or NAS via network without any problem.
The major reason to replace the Xtreamer because it was shuttering at some scenes in alot of movies (that contains HD Audio)

So which one is better for me ? I don't care about the the LCD, HDD mounting .... etc

some questions,

1) Is it possible to load an external subtitle after playing an ISO BD or Disc ? aka subtitle browser
(The ISO or BDMV I've doesn't contains the language I want, so I want to load an external subtitle).

2) Could they load an external SUP file ? and what about a SUP inside MKV file ?

3) Are they capable the play Full SBS 3D which their resolution around 3840x1080 ?

That's all and thanks for supporting Arabic Smile

3) No you can't play Full Sbs, Only Half Sbs 1920x1080

I have the answer to point 1.

You can load external subs. You can even download it from the popcorn by selecting download external subtitle. You then get a list with al different subs in your language to choose from, you can even choose for another language, if yours isn't available.

Point 2.... As far as I know is the max resolution 1920x1080, haven't seen anything else in the menu.

I managed to handle most of the setup but could not find out:
a) how to put in a 3.5inch HDD or blu ray - I opened the door but could not move anything else. Nor work out how to slot in a blu ray player or hdd.
b) how to get the TFT display working - it only shows the welcome screen - even when the HDMI to TV is not connected.
c) cannot find other devices on my network - e.g. Dreambox - maybe this is due to the dream box setup?

The good new is that its faster at scanning my ReadyNas than the playstation3 I have been using. But ease of use and support is far from comparable.....

Help appreciated.

Hi and Welcome,

First, you have only one thing to do: Update C-300 with new firmware!

and It will be OK for that >> "b) how to get the TFT display working - it only shows the welcome screen - even when the HDMI to TV is not connected." Smile

@satyrica: This is hardly an official forum, is it? Apologies if I was mistaken. And I can't agree more on the poor quality of communications overall at Syabas : poor feedback, no instruction manual with products, poor reactivity to requests… I'm hugely disappointed in all this.

@satyrica : Feel free to do better if you can. The users writing in this thread are all sincere and of good will. And they paid 300+ $/€ to buy a machine they hope to see work as advertised. No need to criticize if you don't have something useful to say.

Chill dude. I'm referring to information, or lack of, provided by the host of this site and the mfg. of the expensive products they are producing. Lots of questions and problems, and not a lot of official feedback. Please take your own advice on criticism before attacking my motives...

@mathiourose : If it's like on the C-200 you actually have to open the case to put HD or optical in. There is no way you can just "slot in" a HD or optical. I can't help you with b) but for c) you would need to setup the network before being able to see anything. Did you do something there? If so, maybe you should post something in here : http://www.networkedmediatank.com/forumd...hp?fid=118

@accident : as noted, the popcornhour website takes orders for the C-300, it has been reviewed on many websites, it is marked as "stock" for resellers and it is actually in stock at 2 different resellers here in Belgium. Please check your sources. And there is no glitch in the Sigma chip so there will be no fix there. That series of chip does NOT include BD functionality. BD functionality in both the C-200 and C-300 is achieved by means of software, i.e. the firmware. And it is known to have problems with some bootloaders on some official BDs. I already mentionned a link to a post in this forum with more (reliable!) info on the subject. Once again, please check your sources before writing.

@rolandhii : your profile says "Syabas" so I was kind of hoping you could elaborate on the current subject… Thanks in advance…

1) There is a little jumper under the front panel to disconnect the IR signal to main board. You need to open up the top casing and look from inside to locate the jumper.

2) C-300 doesn't have the browser, so it's unable to render .TXT or other text based files.

3) No comment.

4) Seems like you've got your answer.

I bought a Popcorn C-300 last week and I sold my C-200 (bought on September 2009 !)
So, I can really compare the two products and after one week of use, I have some questions:

1) I have a big problem with the remote control, it's works very bad (no problem with C-200).
- Is it possible to desactivate the IR control and keep only RF control ? (I think the problem is here)
2) Files .TXT are not read, is it a bug ? (read fine on C-200)
3) Ethernet transfert (PC to C-300) are always at 10 Mb/s (like C-200, I bought C-300 to have nearly 20 Mb/s )
- Do I have to modify the "TCP Windows Size" with "17,520" value to have best performance ? (like C-200 too)
4) TFT display is attractive... but TFT display is OFF during movie playing
- Is it possible to switch on it? (like C-200 too)

Thanks you very for yours answers.

Thanks for your answer.

1) I opened the C-300 but I didn't see the little jumper under the front panel, sorry

2) Why C-300 doesn't have the browser, it was present on C-200?! It is a regression confused

3) No more comment too ! on the notice, I read "Gigabit"... hum !Dodgy

4) On TFT display of C-200: Name of film, Time, Remain time with scroll...!

No gigabit, no USB 3.0, Blu-ray Discs doesn't work... but my money is gone ! (400€)
