Plugin for Content Site - ZARk - 01-07-2009 11:36 AM
i just received my A110 yesterday and i'm <3
I'm having lots of ideas for that little box.
I am the webmaster of a content website (http://www.electrobel.be)
that basically offers lots and lots of mp3 content.
I'd like to make that content available to the Popcorn.
Where do i start ? ^^
i'm familiar with C, perl, php, java, c#, i'm no programming newbie, i just need help with understanding the architecture of the popcorn, and haven't found the good doc yet
Thank you for your help, if no doc exist, i shall create it with your help.

It sounds like a good project.
PHP is available to you, as is HTML, limited css and sqlite databases.
Making the content available to the popcorn:
Perhaps you could offer some sort of xml feed which a php script on the popcorn could read and spit out into some sort of jukebox format whereby the user can select a file(s) to download and ultimately play.
I have some experience with programming on the popcorn and would be happy to help. Visit my thread in the User apps section where you can download my code and possibly hack it into something or at least give you a start.

Since it's already a web page, perhaps you should try to make a MSP webservice out of it instead?
See this section of the forum:

yes agree i also think the MSP would be the right thing to start, but you can also make an fully external solution with php, cgi. html, sql or whatever you want and then we can link from msp community if you want, anyway would be really nice to see that site native on my pch, because the type of the music there is what i like

I was also thinking of an MSP webservice.
looking around i found out that it's "simply" an html page with a couple of special metas
thats alright for me
i suppose i just link to a .mp3 file for the PCH to start playing it ?
if i link to a .m3U or .pls ? will it play them all one by one ?
any chance of having something display on screen ? like putting an html page and just an iframe pointing to the .mp3 ?
i'll create a new thread in the MSP part of the forum, would be best

yes our forumuser webservice is the better person to talk with, because it is his work maybe send him an PM to route him to your thread if he misses it.
If you dont get any answer after some days then let me know then i will route him to the thread

The nmt's can't play embedded video's / audio.
Just link to the mp3 using a link like this:
m3u / pls files are not supported as the nmt's use a different format.
You could create a php file which outputs the following:
and link to it using the following tag:
Notice the aod tag in the first link and the aod="playlist" tag in the second link, the nmt won't play anything if you don't add those tags.
This should get you started anyway
