Which HDD? - dammie - 08-29-2009 11:30 AM

hello,

I just ordered a C200. Now im looking for HDD's

I would like lots of space and i dont want a bluray or something yet.

I would like to use both places (2.5" and 3.5")

Which HDD's would you advise, considering lots of space, heat, noise, price??

The 3.5" drives of choice, most people will tell you, are the Samsung EcoGreen and WD Caviar Green series'. Cool, quiet, and the 1.5TB drives are pretty cheap - particularly the Samsungs.

some discussion in this thread. The wd green and samsung ecogreen drives are well liked for the A series and should be just as happy in the C series.

as for 2.5'', not a clue, big is expensive....

I'd be more tempted to go with an external USB solution for more than 1.5TB as you will get far more for your money!

In my C-200 i'm going to have a small 2.5'' drive for apps, and then I have a 4.5TB DAS hooked up via USB.

Thank you for your reply !

Is it possible to add content by LAN/internet/FTP to the USB drive?

SMB yes, FTP no.

So the PCH shares it's USB drives over the network and you can map them as a network drive in windows, and access them the same as the internal drives.
