All i've seen so far is the PCH booting on the same ugly rotating menu and needing to enter a directory where special files are stored after being created from an online scan... So just like the situation now with YAMJ... Guess i'll see when the nmj gets released but disappointment seems on the horizon Sad

What about all the people with concerts, music videos, family videos, anime, porn, docs, etc... all that stuff that isn't on imdb (LOL). Not even a simple 'pick the fanart locally' without any "filename recognition scanning system with XYZ website support" to propose to us? If it exists, then none of this has been put into these teaser videos confused

ps: the NMJ does look great, the best of any mediaplayer out there, so great job on that. BUT let's see if it's truly a complete flash UI or the same HTML with an ability to display a flash made YAMJ scan files

As of right now you have to boot to the ugly menu first but this could change. They are looking into trying to make a plugin system for other websites that users can make but not sure if it will happen. anyone can make a pc based scanner that can scrap any website thoughl

Imo the ugly menu should be replaced with a more modern look in line with NMJ. I hope that this can be included when NMJ is released.
It will make the NMT/NMJ experience more consistent.

One recommendation though, the cover art from imdb is low resolution and doesn't look very good.

So if you want a beautiful jukebox, I would recommend using a media manager like Ember (free) to scrape cover art for your collection first...

Would be a nice addition for NMJ: automatically collect quality fanart when IMDB's resolution is poor.
(At least for media on internal and externally connected harddisks disks.)

I really like what I see so far (really digging the Wall and List views), but IMO, for this UI to be really a step forward, it must collate all like media types together from whatever source it comes from (e.g. movies from all local + network shares in one set, music from all local + network shares in one set). It appears that what we've so far is has a listing that is source specific. That's a no-go unless you have only one source.

I can't see asking others in my household trying to hunt for movie X on either source A or source B, or even changing source to go from Movies to Music, etc. Should be seamless from a users perspective whatever source it comes from. You pick movies, you see all movies; you pick music, you get all music.

I'm a relatively new owner of an C200, and for me I love the flexibility it affords. However, as I'm sure most of you know, expanding your setup is that much easier if you have the rest of the family on board and sold on the benefits. A single, collated GUI for the A/C200 would go a long way toward making this more user friendly.

Don't flame me, but Boxee nails this experience. But I like the full BD menu support of the C200 that the Boxee Box doesn't have, and may never.

I haven't seen a committment yet that the NMJ will indeed collate sources for like media. Have I missed it? It seems to be such a no brainer...and a basic requirement.

Hopefully, it will be ready soon - getting tired of waiting - SONY has already come out with a pretty slick SMP-N100 for $130 !!!

1) the n100is not released yet.
2) you've seen nothing about the n100 GUI, which will probably be very locked down due to the Netflix license.

Pch and these other small boxes( apple tv, n100, etc) are completely different products.

As of yet it has not been included in NMJ I myself also want this option judging by the db structure and the capabilities of the NMT api this is possible to achieve, and has been achieved by UMC already. Just not included in NMJ yet.

Yamj has more features then NMJ will but if you are happy with the look that is all that matters. just make sure your file names are nice. best way is moviename year.extension so the hangover 2009.mkv

From what I can see I would be more than happy with how this looks. My movies are mostly setup as you say and my tv shows are showname.SxxExx.extension. All movies are in individual folders and tv shows are in folders of Show name and then Season number.

.....do we have any ETA on this UI?
