We are the 99% C200's owners.

Yeh really starting to become a joke. So they release a new device with the sloppy support of the C-200, yeh I'm so interested right now... not. I'm already looking at alternatives, most likely gonna be an atom pc of some sorts. I was possitive for a long time... but yeh only so much a man can take.

I am too disappointed customer of the x200 series.
Looking for alternatives for the 2nd box. It is not going to be a Popcorn device.
My Panasonic TV gets firmware updates more often than the x200.

Actually I don't think that a bigger update frequency is necessarily a sign for quality. Isn't it rather the other way round?
So I guess your disappontment has some reasons apart from that? What are you currently missing on the x200? Afaik it does pretty much what it is intended to, except few things like this Gigabit Network issue that was entirely discussed already. But maybe I am alone with my opinion because I am the 1% of C200s owners that is more or less satisfied!?

By the way, the poll they did regarding bringing the new UI to the x200 series shows to me that they are still bringing new functionality to the older devices in the future. You don't see that often with other companies. Sony for example tends to remove functionality from their devices (i.e. "other OS" on the PS3). That is a company I am disappointed about!

Who said anything about quality. we're talking about stuff that needs fixing. Simplest example is the open connections, which is a bug that's been there for a looooooong time. Alot of bluray titles not working, also there for a looooong time.

In stead we get a device ppl (who know how the company works) are not interested in.

I apologize...

Can you point me to the thread/post regarding the open connection problem?

As for Bluray titles not working, the current RC version fixes issues wherein when playing retail BD or ripped BDMV/ISO that requires a language selection at the start of playback to cause the C200 to not continue to the main BD menu.

http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showthread.php?tid=48078 to the bug I mentioned.

and the bluray titles.. I really hope so it's been a problem for me (someone who likes disney blurays) for quite a looong time.

And apologies, well my main issue is the fact long time bugs are still there and we get cookies offered like new ui and stuff. Apologies shouldn't be needed if a bug is there and ppl are just working on it.

Thanks for the link...

Yes it's been addressed. I am the lead reporter for that issue and it's been fixed in RC. Actually you cannot install the LTU anymore with Beta/RC1 as the kernel has been changed.

That really sounds like good news, but well it's just an example out of many. I'm not only hoping for a device with "less" bugs, but better response to actual bugs rather than giving cookies.

In the end, I bought this device to replace a mediacenter pc. To have less fuss in use, so far it's been hell.

That's too bad.

Personally it's been a good journey for me.

I've seen it grow from the time it couldn't even play HD Audio tracks in MKV to this current one that supports BD-Profile 2.0 (finally).

The only computers I have at home are ones we use for work/play. At the end of the day, they are all powered down. Only the PCH units as well as my DSL/WIFI gear stay on 24x7.

I think it would be a real shame if this is where it stops. I've a couple of confirmed bugs logged in mantis that are nowhere on the radar as far as I can see. Not major; one to do with photos and the other with the volume control. It would be nice to have those fixed before a C300 is announced to overshadow it Wink

No disagreements there...

I don't think it's going to stop, but I have come to the realization it will be less frequent now the the 300 series is getting more developer time.

My point with the quality was that a stable firmware acually needs less updates, not more. Therefore I prefer less updates and a good quality firmware Wink
It was just not obvious what your complain was about. Looks like the new firmware is going to get rid of some problems! Good new for us.

Well to be true we should agree it runs better than any other device you could buy 2 years ago and has been improved a lot.
is it perfect? no of course not...... but it is still more perfect than the rest.Wink

And that is the point! Moving from 6 per year bug fixing updates... to 2-3 per year (that has been shown in 2011) to what? One bug fixing update per year for x200 series!? Is this a joke? Thank you but I will sign out.

The simple truth is that Syabas lost its ability to release firmwares in reasonable periods of time about year ago due to too many devices they try to support (and as it seems also due to lack of experienced developers). And instead of hiring more developers to keep up the support they are just releasing more and more beta stage products. In the meantime they also say good bye to the most experienced developer Peter Tiang ( http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27915 ). Hopefully they will understand the mistakes and improve the x200 support… or I do not think they can survive at the market (or just transform to the low-end trash products company). Market is more demanding now. Syabas is at truble. Sales are dropping due to crysis.
It’s such a pity!

However maybe, maybe they will succeed in releasing the really bug fixing firmware before it all shall collapse to x200 users. Just a small hope of me.

Im not sure how much dev work peter actually did anymore he was the head guy at the Penang office. So dev man power might not have changed much.
