Werner has stated numerous times that we will see a non-flash interface firmware first. Unless of course I have missed something?

No you havent as Werner has not been around either much over the holiday period. Not afraid to say it completely slipped my mind, personally I can't see it being much of a release in terms of fixes and features.

It may fix a couple of niggles but it wont be a fixall or anything. Here's what was suggested in a thread from a beta tester for a release with some know fixes to bring the C200 firmware up to the A210 firmware and it does not look beyond the realms of possibility given that the A210 has some of them already:
- BD Menu Language selection (from Beta1/A300)
- Auto YCbCr Colorspace (from A210 public firmware)
- Adaptive Deinterlacing (from RC1)
- Mantis issues already resolved since public firmware and in Beta1/RC1

The real issues that we have waited for ages for things like larger HDD's and mulitmounts etc. were tried but failed in Beta cycle. The suggestion was to leave these out and really bring the C200 up to the A210 firmware with BD Menu and Auto Colorspace.
Mantis fixed issues are few, many Mantis reports are still not actioned years after reporting them. So not a big fix for Mantis reported bugs.

Then the next release would be the big port of the UI and NMJv2. So those wishing to keep html could not update but have some fixes.

So in summary we may see a C200 firmware with some limited fixes. Then we should get the ported UI/NMJv2 firmware some time thereafter. I'll keep trying to get better information from Syabas after the New Year.

Nice ones, but can anybody finally fix the high - res sub/idx problem? Quite annoying to convert them into srt all the time.

There is nothing to fix. hires idx/sub is a hack and they will not support it do to licensing reasons. Lets hope they fix pgs and get to using real hires formats.

I'm not attacking you Chris, but how on earth can they think this?
Looks like they are not really using their own products.

^^ Same here. It has some niggles for me but as I don't use those features it does all I want it to. I do feel sorry for those who need the firmware updates though.

what will you choose as a player replacement ?
you said Dune but any specific model ?

I thinking about leaving Popcorn too for the same reason.
I just ordered the latest A300 for a friend and, like you, convinced many friend to buy one and again, for the same reason, thinking to change.

Would be nice to have your clue...

Thanks

(maybe a thread of the people who think get rid of Popcorn ?)

I'l not go into other brands to much here out of respect for the popcorn peeps but the Oppo BDP-93 for example is a very nice high end alternatieve... It's high end so don't forget these are sold at 2x the price of a popcorn hour Big Grin

No dont go into other makes/models as the 300 series is also a really great new player and we dont discuss that or any of the newer models in this thread either.
I still love my A100 and my C200, however the 300 is a far better player than both in terms of the extra power, features, Ui, and playback ability. Plus it does SMB/NFS which the OPPO couldn't last time I looked.
I want a 400 series with the 8910 chip.Smile

I digress back onto the 200 please.Smile

Lucky for you, but that means that Syabas should remove some features from the website (especially BD). One look in the forums should make it clear that the C200 is not a stable product.

If you have a lot of bugs in Mantis, you should get a hint that it might not be such a stable product after all. When the developers deliver a firmware that gets shot down, how stable can it be?

I have given up all hope for my C200. It's been months since I last switched it on and with my new 3D BD player, DIVX+ HD TV and FLAC capable receiver I hardly feel the need to switch it on again. Just waiting for a tablet with nice codec support and 1080p output and it's time to sell the C200.

Please stop banging your head against the wall.Smile

This is the final final warning before I strip out all the OT posts.

This thread is on a firmware that was released on March 6, 2011.
Everything else has been said a thousand times already.
