I voted Yes.
I currently use YANFOE to manage the info, then YAMJ to create the html, then To_MJB_DB to create the NMJ database. All that to use a GUI that, basically, sucks rocks through a straw, and does it badly. In fact NMJ 1 is so buggy that I end up hardly ever bringing it up - I stick with the standard text-based file/folder interface and full BD folders.
I'm hoping to end this tiresome process I seem to have stuck myself with. I'll give up the "almost pretty" for something that works effortlessly - like NMJ 1 was promised to do.
Hmm... am I drinking the Kool Aid again?

That's a lot of pain to go through for crappy NMJ, try Eversion you're 99% there

I voted yes because if the development focus is on the flash-based firmware then I can't see Syabas being bothered to devote any time to the legacy devices unless the work is easy to port across.
Meantime I'll work on switching over to Eversion with YAMJ so it should be relatively painless when the change comes.
One concern though is will the new flash-based interface work on standard definition displays? We all know how badly NMJ V1 handled this and there must still be customers out there with SD screens which 'should' be supported by the 200 series.

I was actually thinking NMJ V2 since that's what will be on the device by default when it fires up after the firmware upgrade. If you have an SD display and accidentally hit the red button to fire up NMJ V1 then it gives an error and just locks up the machine. NMJ V2 needs to do better than this, since SD displays are supported by the device.

Well there is no fire it up cause that's going from gaya into flash so it'll probably be less quirky with letterbox scaling.

I voted yes for the UI change.
Times are changing, Sybas is trying to improve the Popcorn hour experience from the old Beta firmware feel many people have always complained about with it. And bring it up to date with a more modern day interface that has massive changes compared to the old one. Part of the reason I see this is not just because of the A-300 but because the Popbox's as well are using Flash making it much easier for Syabas own developers to stay in sync instead of split and using different technologies.
So if they switch someone from Popbox team to Popcorn hour team, it will be much easier for them to settle in instead of having to waist time and try to learn an obsolete technology like Gaya in the device.
Yes this whole switch is going to break HTML skins with YAMJ, yes it's going to break the CSI apps. But that's the thing about moving forward. You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet.
You know the simplest thing is for those that want to keep HTML skins and CSI apps on there 200 series devices is not to upgrade your firmware until There are new FLASH CSI apps that make it worth updating. Those who like certain HTML YAMJ skins, don't upgrade your firmware till Someone makes a Flash version of that YAMJ skin.
And those worried about the new UI being buggy? DON'T UPGRADE IF YOUR WORRIED ABOUT IT! And wait until people confirm that it's working properly. You know it's that simple.

I chose NO, because I actually enjoy the layout of YAMJ and the ease. So for now, I'll stick with Yamj on my a-200 series.

I agree completely.
My vote is YES, as well.

Customization is a joy.
If you close this door, you will cause disappointment and you will discourage any third party development.
Personally, I dont mind keeping my old firmware for the rest of my life.

The door is not closed everyone just has to make there apps have a flash front end instead of a html one. The api/sdk is open

Guys, give a chance to eversion. AFAIK it is skinnable. So I think that porting main GUI characteristics of HTML skins to eversion will be easy. Flash interface will provide more aesthetic and new abilities.

This really bothers me. Currently, any of my network shares goes directly into the YAMJ jukebox which means I can have a list on the main page. The box also boots into the last one used.
This makes it all nice and family friendly.
If I move to the Eversion skin, it looks like I have to start it from a flash app that you have to manually navigate to first, i.e. no auto boot? If so, that's a No from me.
