I've been searching for a solution (or at least an explanation) for days but no closer to either.

Can it be this firmware messes up the SMB version (I think previously this was v1,4 to Windows machines) which makes Server 2012 try to connect with the PCH on the SMB 3,0 protocol?
Any suggestions how to move forward? Anyone out there successfully using Server 2012 shares on a PCH C200?

I'm now out of ideas, especially since the other clients can be accessed without a problem.
So this is why I'm thinking its a SMB version issue... Any heroes out there that can help?

Here's what I've tested
Moved PCH & Server 2012 to a new workgroup
Assigned the Windows 2012 the role as Master Browser in my workgroup (switching off all PCs and routers)
Reset PCH to factory defaults and setup NMT apps (using default options, leaving existing media intact)
Enabled Guest account on Server 2012
Created NMT account on Server 2012
Deleted and recreated PCH mappings on IP and host name (using both NMT, Guest and Admin user accounts)
Recreated Server 2012 shares (remove share from Server and then sharing it again)
Manually changed PCH IP address
Cleared Server 2012 DNS Cache
Access Server 2012 from Windows clients, WHS 2011 and Ubuntu 12,04 without problems

I so need your help here guys!! Im desperate to get this fixed as without network access to my meia server the C200 is useless.
Im hearing more and more related issues "host cannot be resolved" to NAS boxes as well so it must be something that can be replicated and analyzed for a fix... Heeeeelp!!!

Thanks,

Joey

server 2012 is going to default to as secure as possible.. do some googling for old samba client settings. It's going to be some registry changes to lower the encryption level of logins and forcing the old protocol for master browser.

I'm using PCH mainly for playing FLAC files through my DAC, so working S/PDIF is a must for me Smile. According to sanctrum's post about new firmware not playing bit perfect WAV/FLAC files it seems digital audio output is working again. Just to make sure, does it really work?

Actually I have tested MP3, not FLAC and with HDMI (not S/PDIF). You must relay on other people tests.

However as far as I understand the problem there is no bit-perfect gapless playback for any audio files at C200.
The main difference is that you can hear the short microsecond gap in case of MP3s, and no gaps at all for FLACs (potential problems with WAVs - see charly post at page 36). But it is still not bit-perfect… but who cares? You won’t be able to hear the difference…

I am worrying about MP3s – it has been announced that it is not possible to fix/improve it. The explanations provided by different people do not speak to me. In general it should be possible to make gapless MP3s regardless the coding bitrates and other parameters of MP3s. Even if there is a mixture of different ones. The prove is WinAmp or other PC applications that can achieve it easily (maybe not bit-perfect but no one can hear any gaps or differences to bit-perfect), so it looks that the architecture of C200 does not allows it somehow or that the fix is too complicated or just not cost-effective (too expensive). IMHO Sad

possible, we have to buy a different one to the NMT
for the music we like
I think not, I think we need to fix the problems
not exactly cheap, for the problems that have

You may not like this suggestion.
The PCH sounds terrible with good quality music files. Read this and then if you build it use JRiver to play your files to your DAC.
Gary’s stupid good music *server*

I agree with you, i use the c200 with a good DAC and the sound quality is incredible! Angle

AFAIK gapless problem in C200 is pure software issue. Maybe also quite strongly connected to SDK and Flash lite framework used now at C200 for audio (if I am not wrong).

And you are right that I won't like this kind of suggestions. It always move the discussion to wrong direction and ends with bad emotions and arguing. Not mentioning that it is completely not helpful in solving this real gapless issue with C200.
C200 is the scope of the conversation... not buying another pieces of unnecessary hardware and JRiver media software. If I do not want to have 1 compact solution for my all media I would not decide to buy C200. Gapless playback was ok 2 years ago when I tested C200 before the purchase had been made - that is why I have chosen C200, not HDI Dune that time. I had an unique opportunity to test and compare these two solutions in one place before I had made a decision.

That is why I am interested in solving it... not going backward. Looks like C300 Flash interface (that is going to be ported to C200) is showing more and more CONS.

Yes, but you probably don't want it until they fix the issues in the bug-fix release that's coming for the C-200. The new firmware fixed a number of things but also broke a number of things too, so they are bringing out a second firmware to resolve these issues. This will be essentially the one the A-200 will be getting, which should end up being much better than what was initially released for the C-200.

So your wait will be longer but the result should be better!

The fact that Syabas can not for a year to update its firmware is the best advertisement for the future-purchase its products. So we wait patiently until Syabas will be an honest job and will take care of their customers. Angry

I don't work for Syabas so don't go misquoting me for the sake of having your rant. What I said was the C-200 firmware has introduced a number of new bugs, some of which are significant in certain use cases, as well as fixing a load, so there's no point putting it on the A-200 as you've got an equal chance of it being worse than better for you.

Consider the C-200 users as the beta testers here to ensure that you end up with a better firmware for your product.

Sadly they still haven't solved the HDMI handshake problem with the Sony z5500 series Sad

I hope someone can help as my wife is not technically savvy and just wants things to work.

MY PCH is on wifi and since the upgrade to the latest firmware, when I switch the PCH on, I need to tweak the network settings each and every time just so that it can connect to my wireless network. Whether I keep it on DHCP or on a static IP, it doesn't connect automatically. The network settings will say "unknown". If I fiddle with the settings it will say "connected".

Can anyone please help! Thanks Rolleyes

Do another factory reset. Worked for my case. Managed to get WiFi working after 3 factory resets... Do know why as the settings were the same...

I don't think they will if the issue is Sony specific...
