Put it in a NAS and connect to it on the network.

what is the max i can get out of putting it in an internal HDX1000 2.2 tb ? or no, i kinda like the idea of using it in the NMT, since i mostly use it as a nas and the occasional music for bedroom.

Get a Popcornhour 300 or 200 series. Then you can use the 3Tb internal and have the NMT Apps on a USB stick. Getting all 3Tb of storage space.

@chris 57 Why use a USB stick for the NMT Apps, I have my NMT Apps on my 3TB drive, which still has its 3TB partition...

USB for NMT Apps as I do not want anyone to 'lose' 3Tb of their precious files/videos when doing an NMT Apps update or using say CSI userapps. Both can cause corruption requiring a fresh install thereby erasing the content. Not a problem if your content is only the USB stick.

With the HDX100 aka 100 series NMT you cannot have a 3Tb HDD.

Not including partitioning it in an external enclosure. Be aware, however, that mount points may change, making it difficult to run something like YAMJ with any consistency.

There should be no difficulty. If you give the partition a volume label, the path using the name never changes.

Yeh you cannot do it via a standard install on the player like you can on the 200/300 series, no GPT only MBR from memory. You must remove the HDD and try using gparted etc. to expand the storage partition and as stated above check the mount points/permissions etc.
There are guides on this in the WIKI and forum FAQ/Guides section.
