C-300: optimal/safe settings NZBget - ZenphiR - 08-28-2012 01:21 PM

My C-300 was allways getting approximate download speed 1400 KB/s on default settings NZBget. Recently I found out a friend's A-300 was hitting download speed approximate 2800 KB/s. We both have the same providers (internet & usenet), so to me this seems like a big difference(!). I compared a lot of settings in our GUI (network) & NZBget Web Interface (config) and most settings are equal.

On my computer I get a usenet download speed approximate 6000 KB/s. I suppose my C-300 isn't capable of archieving this downloadspeed, but I suspected I should get better results. Recently I changed the "ThreadLimit" (config) from 10 to 100. This improved my download speed to approximate 3500 KB/s. Now, I am very happy with this big improvement, saddly my C-300 seems to disconnect frequently from the internet (when downloading from usenet) since I changed the "ThreadLimit". This leads me to the following question:

- What are optimal/safe settings in NZBget?

NZBGet Web Interface v 1.3
NZBGet version 0.6.0

Firmware Version : 05-02-120806-23-POP-420-000
NMT apps: 05-02-111220-23-POP-420
Popcorn Hour C-300: 3Gb HD(internal) & Lan (Cat6), speed D:60 Mbit/s U:6 Mbit/s

ThreadLimit is not to limit the speed. Use ServerX.Connections and DownloadRate for this.

ThreadLimit is a workaround for internal bugs in underlying OS and should be used in very rare cases. ThreadLimit should normally be set to default value 100.

If your device has problem on high download speeds this can be caused by overheating. For test purposes you could remove the case or/and add a cooler.

maybe you can restart nzbget to reset the average download speed. Then try to download at night.

Are you streaming or copying content at the same moment as you are downloading? What usenet provider are you using?

can you also verify that the utp-cable is ok or try different port at switch/router(the one where your pc is)

before you make more changes, do #4 in this thread: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showthread.php?tid=62390

It'll up the recieve window for the tcp/ip stack to one that can max out the bus on the 300s.

"hugbug", can you confirm ThreadLimit should normally be set to default value 100? It says so in the note, but by default it was set to 10 on my C-300 and my friend's A-300.

First I will follow all instructions in thread by "accident". If after that my C-300 still disconnects from internet while downloading with NZBget I will remove the case or/and add a cooler (check possible overheating).

Thanks for the tips so far & I will post an update/edit when (lack of) progress Wink

Try limiting the download to 2,000kb/s and see if you still get dropouts.

When the players cpu is pushed then you'll find the UI slows down. It finds it easier to play a video then to navigate in the flash UI.

Yes.

My C-300 keeps disconnecting from internet when downloading with NZB-Get. I followed all advice from previous posts. At the end of nzbget.CONF file there are some tips regarding performance wich I have also tried. I don't know if it is related, but now often the following messages appears:

ERROR Fri, 05 Oct 2012 20:03:40 +0200 Could not read from TLS-socket: cannot read from TLS connection: the operation timed out
WARNING Fri, 05 Oct 2012 20:03:40 +0200 Article ***part03.rar [37/683] @ failed: Unexpected end of article
Could not read from TLS-socket: cannot read from TLS connection: the operation timed out

My C-300 seems to become more unstable...
Edit: 10-10-2012, after complete firmware-recovery for the 3th. time. I deleted the .nzbget directory so these files/directories would also be restored to default. What grabs my attention: ThreadLimit default = 10 on my C300_REV1.3

Edit: 09-02-2013: Default settings NZBget or ThreadLimit 100 stress the CPU too much and causes errors when downloading. This also sometimes causes internal network adapter to fail (network connection is lost). Adjust ThreadLimit to 20 and change settings in options from NZBget-webbrowser so all downloads are automaticaly paused when par-checking/file-repairing etcetera. This are optimal/safe settings (no errors or network connection lost)
