[BUG] AR problem with old 4:3 TV and 16:9 clips

Bug [BUG] AR problem with old 4:3 TV and 16:9 clips
Tested some 16:9 clips, which have all the wrong AR (eggheads).
It seems that there is no Letterbox or that it doesn't work correct.
There is even no solution if I use different zoom modes.

I can confirm this (as I reported earlier here).

It seems like the C-200 only reads (or only uses) the PixelSize and not takes into account the DisplaySize fields of the MKV file.

The NMT's do not have an option for changing an aspect ratio of a video image. I wish they did have that option also. So at this point, the options are,

1) re-encode the video with a proper aspect ratio
2) look for another copy of said movie with correct AR

or(if you TV supports this)

3) set your TV to Stretch mode(16:9) for the 4:3 videos that should have been 16:9
for all other AR problems, most TV's are not going to offer solutions/hacks that you can use.

I have a a Zio-LX351 which is a media player that has the ability to change aspect ratios. I keep it around for all the older stuff I have that was done at wrong aspect, for which I have not replaced the media with a better copy.

The problem is only on the C-200.
I have no problem with the same files on A-1x0!
So it's definitely a bug.

Setup in C-200: 4:3
Connection: S-VIDEO

RE: AR problem with old 4:3 TV and 16:9 clips
It is not supposed to change it. Just obey it Smile.

I have several files encoded to 640x480 which is supposed to be stretched to 853x480 before being scaled to fit the screen. Like this one...

Code:
|+ Segment tracks
| + A track
|  + Track number: 1
|  + Track type: video
|  + Enabled: 1
|  + Default flag: 1
|  + Codec ID: V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC
|  + Language: eng
|  + Name: 2x16 In the Shadow of Z'Ha'Dum
|  + Video track
|   + Pixel width: 640
|   + Pixel height: 480
|   + Interlaced: 0
|   + Display width: 853
|   + Display height: 480

However, in the current (beta) version of the firmware, the stretching to 853x480 before scaling to fit my selected output resolution (720p) is not done. Instead the raw 640x480 picture is scaled to 960x720 and then pillar-boxed into a 1280x720 output (which would be correct if the Display size was intented as 640x480).

The correct method was to start by stretching the 640x480 image to 853x480, then scaling it to fit the screen, which is 1279.5x720 (or 1280x720 if you round off Smile) and then send it out over the HDMI interface.

Try physically powering the unit off and back on with the power switch on the back. The C-200 doesn't seem to output the right aspect ratio to a 4x3 set after coming out of standby.

Yup. Sounds right. I am seeing this too. MPEG4 part 2 in AVI containers though. I'm outputting 1080i though.
