Does your C200 is running or just in stand by mode 365/24h?

RE: Repair C200 dead PSU
Thanks Vladaudio, I'll have a go at the 4.7uf 400v one then, just ordered one of those because they don't have them locally. If that doesn't work I'll replace the big one and after that I'll be out of ideas...

I read this and think that maybe it's a problem with the house wiring and outlet it's plugged into? Or is it stored in some cabinet or something where it has no fresh air to cool it?

Absolutely. Sorry for the delay, I had to reinstall windows and I am installing all my apps every few hours the past few days. I will aim to do within 24hrs.

I'll also propose deleting a few posts after the picture so not to confuse others (picture will be updated and correct but posts folloing will be saying it is not).

EDIT: I've updated the picture in post #121 and updated the wiki

Wink RE: Repair C200 dead PSU
GUYS THIS WORKED. I can add myself to the list of happy people.

Replace those three Capacitors and your PSU will probably be back to life.

Just a note: I used 2x10v 2200uh and 1x 10v 3300uh which I pulled out of an old ATX PSU to replace the three. All is good.

Thanks!!!Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

First time it broke when I cut the electricity from the main switch.. I kept it in standby always, but now I turn it off totally.

The external power is out in the open. I was thinking about the house wiring too, but there is TV and home theater system some other devices connected to the same place so they should break also I think.. maybe I check the cables...

RE: Repair C200 dead PSU
I have more bad luck, my popcorn doesn't turn on at all, no blinking also.

The hidden fuse in the back of the popcorn was melted so i replaced it with a new 2.5 A fuse. With a meter i notice ~230V on the 2 pins so the PSU get's power in.

I tried an ATX PSU and my popcorn works, so it is the PSU which is dead.

I replaced the transistor P10NK80ZFP, the 4.7 uF 400V capacitator and all 3 2200 uF capacitator, but still the popcorn doesn't do a think. Connecting the green with a black to turn the PSU on doesn't do anything as well.

The onboard fuse is oke, no resistance on ohm.

Now i'm clueless in fixing my dead PSU, might as well go for a picu or so

Is there a other component that can be dead resulting into this behaviour?

RE: Repair C200 dead PSU
Bought the right capacitors on ebay a moment ago. Never done anything like this so I am hoping that someone near Rotterdam (Netherlands) is willing to help me with putting the capacitors in. Seen that the 4.7uF 400v 105c has popped so definitely must change that one. Others would be better for the future of my C200.

So who wants to help me out on putting the capacitors in my C200?

Thanks for any replies Big Grin

RE: Repair C200 dead PSU
I've changed the 4.7 uF 400V capacitator as well now, and the Popcorn works again Smile

@Mick: Unfortunately I don't live near Rotterdam (omgeving Venlo), otherwise I would've done it for you. Just try it yourself, it's pretty basic soldering I'd say. All you need is an iron, some tin and some desoldering braid or a pump for your convenience.

Take the plunge and do it yourself. This was my first solder/de-solder experience and it worked and was pretty easy. The experience you gain is priceless even if you pay a little more for the hardware to do the soldering. I did mine around a month ago and since then, I have fixed my Viewsonic monitor (my second experience and apparently was also a common thing) and very recently I replaced the cap on my forced air furnace blower. How sweet is that!? Funny how everything was capacitor related.

When people ask, how'd you learn how to do that? I say, "I learned on the internets" and then we all laugh a hearty laugh and enjoy a Red Stripe

RE: Repair C200 dead PSU
Gotta say buying PSU, being charged the VAT, carriage and then the kicker them wanting an additional €20 was making it seem overly expensive. But after reading this €9 and five capacitors in the post done. Thank you very much.
