MPEG audio files too loud
Hi.

Since 1 or 2 months, when i watch any avi movie with MPEG 1 sound, the sound is way too loud, even with some distorsion.
I have to set the sound level at -50 db, instead of usual -20 or -30 for the other sound codecs.
I have a Marantz 5001 Amplifier, i don't know what parameters have changed.

Thx for your help

RE: MPEG audio files too loud
Maybe you have set the sound of the popcorn hour itself(this only affects the analog sound such as mpeg 1, mp3 etc. and not digital sound like DD, DTS etc.) to loud? This also explains the distortion because it merges loud noises or something, don't know the details exactly but I read it somewhere on this forum some time ago. Anyway, always keep the sound settings of the popcorn hour itself at 0 for the best sound.

Popcorn Hour A-200: 3.5" HDD 1,5 TB Western Digital WD15EARS, HDMI connection, LAN, Apple Airport Extreme

RE: MPEG audio files too loud
DTS and dolby are on digital choice (RAW) and the 2 others AAC and WMA pro are on analog (PCM) choice.
I don't see any output level Sad
