stream vob files and .iso files
hello everyone

i have a pch-c200 and a synology ds211 nas.
if i put a .iso file or a dvd folder into my nas it's not shown on my pch-c200.
i can stream everything else to my pch-c200 but not dvd files and iso files.
i have to copy the iso files or dvd folders to the internal hdd to play the movie.
is it even possible to stream these files to a pch-c200 because i have never got it to work.
i've turned on everything on my pch-c200, smb, nfs, upnp server.
whatever i do, i cannot stream these files to the pch.

please help.
thank you.

RE: stream vob files and .iso files
Check two things:
1) That you use SMB or NFS to connect (or possibly llink ;-) )
Do NOT use UPnP as it does not support iso-filesystems.

2) Make sure your /volume1/video (or whatever directory you use) is shared properly.
If you haven't already, connect to your Syno NAS http://ip.to.your.syno:5000 and
- Add a new user, let's call it "popcorn" and password "1234"
- Grant "popcorn" priviledges to Read-permissions (if you use the NMJ you also need Write/Modify) to /volume1/video (or whatever you have)
- Connect from your NMT using SMB; use the "popcorn" user and "1234" password you just set on the Synology

Now try connect and play an ISO. Let us know how it works out.

Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn.

RE: stream vob files and .iso files
Thanks a lot man, it works.
The iso file i tried started ok but after a few minutes it started to shock (not playing smoothly), i changed the network settings on the c200 from 10/100 mbit to automatic and it plays smoothly now for 15 minutes. The c200 is connected to a gbit router.

Thanks again. I'm going to try a dvd folder later.
