Ok I am replacing my C200....it died. So I have been looking for the last couple of hours to try to find the difference between the A300 and the C300 and basically the only difference I see is the C300 has the ability to add a blue ray player and the A300 dosn't.....plus the $100 dollar extra price. I don't need a blue ray player now since I have a PS3 for that purpose.

So can someone tell me please what is the difference and since I don't need blue ray is the A300 my best way to go or does the extra $100 dollars for the C300 give me more than just a blue ray additive capability.

Ok sorry if this has already posted but I have searched and found nothing not only on the forum also I googled it and didn't find a simple answer.

So again what is the difference between the C300 and A300 please?

BTW I have seen the comparison chart on the Pocorn Hour site and that basically told me that again the C300 is able to add a blue ray drive and the A300 can't, oh and also the A300 has USB slave and the C300 dosn't.

So to cut to the chase here I would pay an extra $100 to be able to add a blue ray drive. I'm I correct here?

If you have no desire for Bluray disc playback or playback of rips that do not have their encryption/protection removed then the A300 will do you fine.

The other differences are additional ports (1xSATA,2xUSB external and 1xUSB internal). so you can fit 2 x 3.5" HDD in there with a bit of a squeeze or a ROM drive and one 3.5" and one 2.5". But if internal storage maximizing is not important then there may be no need for the extra space/flexibility. USB Slave is not too important as with the C300 you can use the front loading slot to remove a 3.5" HDD and then connect it to your PC yourself using the likes of a USB3 dock or multimedia front panel.

RF remote as opposed to IR remote. TFT screen for browsing without a TV, useful for music playback.

First off thanks Chris for you quick reply. I am assuming that (1xSATA,2xUSB external and 1xUSB internal) refers to the A300 and you can squeeze one 3.5 sata drive and one 3.5 USB internal into it??? I know the C200 had 2 sata and one internal usb so does the A300 also have an internal usb?

The Popcorn hour comparison chart says C300 - USB port 4+1, Sata port 2 and the A300 - USB port 2, Sata port 1.

The ports I listed were the additional ones that the C series has over the A series. So I was talking about the C series not the A series as you asked for the differences.

Squeezing in additional HDD's etc. was again about the C series. The A series is around a third of the size of the C series and can fit only one HDD.

Thanks again and that clears it all up for me. Now all I have to do is order my new unit which will problably be the A300.

you sure you dont mean the usb3 cable?

There is no USB3 cable. There is a cable identified on the Quick setup photo as a Sata cable and the cable connectors say E-Sata

It wont be USB3 as the C300 does not have USB Slave so no need for USB3.

It could be a double adapter for use if you use a slimline ROM and both a 2.5" HDD and 3.5" HDD. You'd need either 3xSATA or 2xSATA and one SATA>USB adapter. So having the double may eliminate the need for the SATA > USB adapter.
