aspect ratio DVD still wrong
this has been a bug for a long time

when the a110 came out it displayed 4:3 dvd's full screen on a 16:9 screen.

after 2 firmware updates they decided to add black bars justr to make sure your tv(and al it's inteligence) could no longer display it full screen so it was forced to display on 4:3.

i know they did this to keep the corect aspect ratio(round will display round)

what they however forgot to check is how most dvd's are put together.

most dvd's have vob's which are 720x576(16:9)
if you however display this on a 4:3 screen it will be all wrong.

therefor they put 4:3 info into the .IFO files.

result 16:9 film on 4:3 screen will be displayed as 4:3(maybee with letterbox)

16:9 film displayed on 16:9 will be full screen like it should.

by forcing the black bars on te side syabas screwed over al known standards.

result some 16:9 dvd's(mostly kid dvd's like dora, diego etc) will display in 4:3 which will give the WRONG aspect ratio because the VOB is in 16:9

is there any chance that Syabas will correct this.

only solution at the moment is to use a program called IFOAR2WS which modifies all ifo files to 16:9
The main menu however is untouched so if you want this changed also you need to use DVDREMAKEPRO, correct the menu and only write back the changes to save time(CTRL+M)

first i changed al my dvd's to video_ts format because they refused to play in ISO.
after a couple of firmware updates the reversed everything so i had to change to iso format.
now with the 4:3 thing i need to edit every single ISO which is a pain(mount iso, correct files, copy everything to HD, makle new iso, copy back to A110)

would it not be simple to keep the standards like they are.

do not change the output of the A110. make the output of the A110 the same as if i would play back a DVD through my DVD player.

i know, i also changed a couple of dvd's to MKV which corrects everything at once but i like some dvd menu's.
