Whether HDMI as digital shows the more detailed picture and therefore is making poorly encoded SD encodes look worse is another way to view the issue.
Try using component with the PCH to see what you think a like for like comparison is like, again thought the quality of the PCH may again make the encodes flaws show up more than the XBOX.
