Could someone test some DTS-HD MA samples ?

Original sample (100MB)
http://www.sendspace.com/file/txz7i7

Remuxed by TsMuxer (101MB)
http://www.sendspace.com/file/yx8agd

Please test whether your receiver (AVR) can identity and decode the DTS-HD MA stream correctly.

Appreciate it if you could post your answer after testing.

RE: Could someone test some DTS-HD MA samples ?
I tested both files. The info of the PCH shows DTS-HD MA, but my receiver couldn't identify the DTS-HD audio. No sound was played at all.

set-up:

PCH connected via HDMI to my receiver Denon AVR-3808

settings:

HDMI Audio: On
Surround Mode: 5.1

DTS: DTS-HD (RAW)
AC3: Digital (RAW)
AAC: Analog (PCM)
WMA Pro: Analog (PCM)

I can't tell whether the above results are completely valid, as I have never seen DTS-HD MA working at all. I wanted to give it a shot, because I really love to have it working. Therefore if anyone has suggestion (and the above clip could actually give the proper audio of course..) it would be appreciated.

I have the Yamaha Rx-V663, and I also have over 50 Blurays with DTS-MA soundtracks that were all remuxed with TsMuxer, and all work fine.

Hi, eBrain,

Your problem is very similar to mine.

My receiver Onkyo 705 could not detect those DTS-HD stream in my provided samples.

eBrain, how about TrueHD audio ? Does it work fine ?

Well off course I wanted to give that a try also, but I can't seem to download the second sample from your other post.

Remuxed by TsRemux (60MB):

For some reason I can't download that one.

I just downloaded the Kung Fu Panda HD with THD audio track in it. I will try that when I am at home. But I still like to use your sample file, because others have success with that one (which means the file can't be the problem).

[update] just tried it again a few times and now I have a download running. I don't understand why, but okay.... Smile Will post the result asap[/update]

RE: Could someone test some DTS-HD MA samples ?
I have the same result with the TsRemuxed THD file. Audio track 1 = AC3 which my Denon recognices as DOLBY DIGITAL.

Audio track 2 = True HD, but my Denon does not recognize it (or does not receive it) and does not play any sound at all...

my settings are still:

HDMI Audio: On
Surround Mode: 5.1

DTS: DTS-HD (RAW)
AC3: Digital (RAW)
AAC: Analog (PCM)
WMA Pro: Analog (PCM)

Conclusion: I have the same results with as well DTS-HD MA as with True HD

Many thanks for thinking along with me so far. If any one has more suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Could someone test some DTS-HD MA samples ?
Sounds like your receiver is the problem.

edit: also a very small but still possible problem - you don't have the required bandwidth for playing Blu ray rips w/ HD audio, the video plays fine, but no audio at all. Make sure you are using an Http streamer or use the internal HDD.

eBrain,
is it possible that you don't have a v 1.3 HDMI cable? that is the only version that will carry the HD audio.

Even I changed to use a v1.3 HDMI cable, the TrueHD and DTS-HD still not working with my receiver Onkyo 705.

However, it proves that my TrueHD and DTS-HD samples don't have any problem. Smile

The potential problem is come from either PCH or the receiver Undecided
(Perhaps the HDMI handshaking is bad)

I must say thank you to all guys who help me in those tests. Cheers.

RE: Could someone test some DTS-HD MA samples ?
@jchappo: I am using the internal HDD. It would surprise me if bandwidth is the problem. I tested some VC1 clips with over 25Mbps video (/audio DTS) without any problems. Overall I am very happy with the performance of the A-110, no stuttering whatsoever!

edit: btw if you say problem with the receiver. Do you think it is broken / not functioning correctly or a setting? (or just one of those Smile?)

@kenrippy: I am using the HDMI which comes with the PCH. I was under the impression that it is 1.3?
Nevertheless I will try another HDMI cable to be sure (Belkin PureAV Silver cable)
