RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.42 / 1.50 beta2
nice has values from -20 to +20 if I'm not wrong, lower means higher priority. E.g. it is not "nice", it is aggressive and is eating up CPU

I know in the past I did run into some UNIX variant with a bug where it ignored the minus sign... so effectively you couldn't un-nice something. That might be what's going on here. Anyway, I restarted the transmission daemon, and it crashed the PCH 15 minutes later... back to 1.41b2 for me, it looks like. |

RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.42 / 1.50 beta2
I installed transmission (tried versions 1.42/1.40) strictly according to the instructions on clean NMT installations. The setup is always successful w/o any error. Though, after about 1-2 minutes when the URL (http://my_popcorn:9091/transmission/web/) shortly shows up but keeps loading, transmission is not available via remote web or Gaya.
Telnetting to the A110 shows on top, that one of the transmission processes constantly consumes about 95-97% CPU. I waited some hours with no real change. Also the internal HDD keeps loading, though I can't really figure out why. Both preinstalled torrent clients work fine. I really would appreciate any suggestions! Thanks in advance. Regards, F9lk |

RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.42 / 1.50 beta2
I have huge problems getting Transmission 1.42 to work. It installs flawlessly and is configurable via the webgui. But after a few hours I cannot reach the webgui anymore (regardless which browser I use). It simply does not find the server.
And how can I add torrents without the webgui? With the interface on the tv (gaya, correct?) I only have the options to start and stop torrents, but not to add one. tia |

RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.42 / 1.50 beta2
Transmission 1.50 beta3 downloads now available.
"This beta has three high-priority peer connectivity fixes: one affecting mac users, one affecting encrypted peer traffic, and one affecting swarms with low peer counts. Also, the "add torrent by URL" feature has been reintroduced into the Web UI. " People having high cpu loads, please remote all torrents from the ".transmission\torrents" folder before starting, perhaps a cpu-intensive torrent verify is causing your problems! RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.42 / 1.50 beta2
Thanks for the new release and the reply on high cpu usage!
Unfortunately I get 95+% cpu load directly after installing on a new and formatted HDD with no settings made nor torrent on it. Nobody got that before and could help out? Thanks in advance! |

RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.42 / 1.50 beta2
Ger Teunis, I understand that you are connected with Transmission therefore would appreciate your help.
If I have now the default Transmission 1.22 on my PCH A-110 and if I want to upgrade to 1.50 beta3 can I just install it jumping over version 1.4 and 1.42? I am asking because I noticed here (http://members.tele2.nl/ger.teunis/transmission/#) that, e.g., version 1.4 is much bigger in size than 1.42. Also 1.5 beta3 is small (1.6 MB) in comparison with 1.4 (4.4MB). Also would like to know is it possible to change default password (1234) in Clutch UI? Thanks! This is an ongoing project of mine to get my NMT to download at reasonable speeds by created newer versions of transmission for the NMT. What I create I share with the NMT community for others to enjoy as well. Some donate some money, that helps me to keep motivated, thanks to all donators! You can switch between all transmission versions without problems, just install the other version and keep on downloading. Regarding the size decrease, I optimized the transmission (compilation) for size as well as speed for the NMT, that is why the size decreased. No functionality has been left of and all transmission versions are directly autonomically usable. Regarding your question about the webui password; I do not have experience with that, perhaps anyone else? I am not even sure there is a password protection implemented on the webui! RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.42 / 1.50 beta2
Can someone please let me know how to upgrade from v1.42 to v1.5beta 2? I installed v1.42 successfully but since download speed is so slow I would like to test out v1.5 beta 2. I stopped the torrent process on nmt application. Extracted 1.5beta 2 files to the top directory and changed the installer.cgi permission to 755. When I select Install transmission 1.5 to HARD_DISK from pch A100, it gave me an error message of 'request cannont be processed'.

RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.42 / 1.50 beta2
Is Transmission 1.50b3 totally incompatible with the Transmission (1.22?) that the January firmware comes with? Can one manually move files to make it so? Because what I liked about the new firmware was that, though we lost BTPD, the old SD-friendly Torrent interface was still present, so I could manage torrents on TV. (The Clutch interface is too wide for a standard-def TV set, and if there's a way to page down, I don't see it.) When I installed 1.50b3, I lost the Torrent entry on the Web Services page, and the http://pchIP:8883/torrent/bt.cgi browser link stopped working. Is there a way to get both back with 1.50b3? Because obviously it's not the Transmission part, per se, that prevents it working, if it works in the Jan firmware. Failing that, does anyone have a Clutch modified for SD screens?

RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.42 / 1.50 beta2
Ger Teunis - I'm trying to compile beta3 but getting error for "thridparty/libevent/" regress_http.o: In function `http_close_detection':
regress_http.c .text+0x3a14): undefined reference to `TAILQ_FIRST'. Have you faced it? It is curious because TAILQ_FIRST is actually macro!!, so no need to resolve it...

But currently these transmission packages may not be 100% compatible with the new firmwares, I am not able to test them. I am able to test beta firmwares but I do not have a A100 to test them with. I will, in time, make these packages compatible with the new Gaya interface. Easy way of installing software on your NMT using just your mouse: NMT Community Software Installer |

The link only results in a notice of "Torrent Service Message: Bittorrent service is not running" now, when Transmission GUI clearly shows it is running and seeding. 1.50b3 is an improvement over the firmware Transmission in terms of speed reliability, but I do regret it depends on off-TV interfaces to operate. I hope your Gaya interface work goes well. |
