Yeah I thought about it, but let's be honest: it's a tool for real techies right? Whom ever is going to use the toolchain is most likely very familiar with telnet and ftp.
That said: I will integrate it but somewhat later on, firstly I am going to add software which will 'serve' a more wider public, read: more popular or visible products. Ofcourse> if someone is wanting to contribute and will create the zip with an installer.cgi inside it which will install the toolchain: please do I will be happy to mention your name and add it to the repository!

I still want to implement the wait/load images part first, the first phase is already done though.

Yes, I'm able to access that URL fine in my browser.

Could you send me the screenshot of the installer failing? (include any addition information like error messages).
Mail it to g.teunis AT gmail.com

ps> in the meantime: use the portable download, just unzip and double click the exe file.

RE: [CSI] Community software installer 1.5.2
Hi,

I can't install any themes. I select the theme, then press next and get the error:

"Can't connect Network Media Tank FTP server.
Not able to upload files
Make sure FTP server is enabled"

The FTP server works fine, I can install the applications, the FTP server is accessible and the login information in the settings work. I did however change my password for the FTP account, might it be so that the theme tab uses the default login settings instead of the global FTP settings?

I am now stuck with a black theme that looks nice but the highlighting is black on black which makes it hard to see what I selected. Also the other theme available screams at me and hurts my eyes, so I desperately need a new theme ;-)

I use the latest version, portable download which works. The other version did not work and was only like 6 kb.

With regards,
- Jorgen

What version does the application say it is?
(Help -> About in the application itself).
You describe a bug from an older version of CSI.

The installer is indeed a file of a few kb, the rest is being downloaded from the internet. For some users this doesn't seem to work, most likely a proxy or firewall issue, for those a Portable edition is created.

Hi Ger thanks for the swift reply. The application version is 1.5.2.0, copyright 2008 (shouldn't that be 2009? ;-) anyway I downloaded it yesterday...

That is the latest version indeed. You changed the password, then clicked next. no error then right? just while uploading themes?

Please remove the _theme_ folder manually; i think a file was written there with different file rights. What theme did you install and did you install it manually?

The "next" function works on the normal apps they upload and they work when they are on the NMT no problem there.

I installed Skin Manager 2.5 and that contained two skins. I assumed that the themes that were in the second tab would work with this application too.

Where can I find the _theme_ folder is it on the first partition and won't I break the skinmanager application if I do that?

I can also chown it maybe but I am not sure under which user the FTP server runs and tries to create files in the _theme_ folder.

- Jorgen

RE: [CSI] Community software installer 1.5.2
Yeah, that's it.
Skin Manager breaks current theme upload (mentioned in the installer as well). For the time being the CSI is not able to upload themes to the Skin Manager. Future releases will support it though.

Technical details> skin manager creates a _theme_ symblic link to the selected theme from skin manager itself. CSI is not able to clean-out the theme anymore using ftp because skin manager is in there. That's why a ftp error is being given.

Ok understood. do you know a way to get rid of skin manager again or at least get the original theme back? I can now only select the dark theme or the scream theme and both are not really satisfactory.

Anyway, good work on the app, it really makes installing and managing the NMT a lot easier!

Yeah, uninstall Skin Manager:
Use fourth icon on the NMT (next to music, video etc) and go to folder:
/Photo/ and select uninstall_skinmanager.html (perhaps the file is located in _theme_ folder)

When you restart then, hopefully you should be able to upload themes again with CSI (or delete them using the Extra menu).

ps> you're welcome. (where was that donation page again? Big Grin)

No not really...

What the variable does it list out the various files/locations/paths you want to use in the menu.

Theres no way to make it universally work for everyone. I have a fairly detailed explination how to change it in my first post though.

btw, if i can remember to when i get home i'll make a zip of all those buffering screens people have made already.

Great, the first step is being taken care of now. The only changes which have to be made are changes to the installer itself.

HELP!

Just put a new HD in. ALL my configurations stay the same, so no reprogramming. But now when I run the community installer, regardless of what I try to install, the end result is this:

install files copy over and then:
Requested file not exist! (404 Not Found)

You own a B110 right? Please go to "Server and Hardware settings" and select B110 hardware, save and retry.
