A-110 changes resolution when playing video or audio
I have a problem with my Popcorn Hour A-110. Everytime I play a file with it (doesn't matter what kind of file, mp3, mkv, iso, avi) my TV changes resolution, and that takes a few seconds, so I miss the first 4 seconds of everything. With video it isn't that big of a deal, but to miss the first 4 seconds of every song is really annoying.
The strange thing is, my TV acts like it and says it is changing resolution, but the resolution of the menu is not different than the resolution of the movie or audio-playing-interface, so actually it doesn't really change. It looks like it just temporarily loses signal, and then changes back to my original resolution. And when I press stop, it switches to the menu instantly, and then when I open the same file again, it changes. So the problem only occurs when opening a file, not when closing. I have connected the Popcorn Hour to my Pioneer LX01BD home cinema set with HDMI, and the home cinema set is connected to my Pioneer PDP 428XD TV with HDMI. I already connected the Popcorn Hour directly to the TV to check if the home cinema set is the problem, but it isn't. It can be a problem with the TV, but then why doesn't it change resolution when stopping a file? The Popcorn Hour just does something strange when I open a file. I stream everything with NFS from my PC. And these are my audio/video settings: Video output: 720p 60hz Video zoom: Fit To Screen TV Type: 16:9 HDMI Audio: On Colorspace: 0-255 Surround mode: 5.1 DTS: DTS-HD (RAW) AC3: Digital (RAW) AAC Analog (PCM) WMA Pro: Analog (PCM) I hope someone knows what the problem is. |

RE: A-110 changes resolution when playing video or audio
i get a similar thing with my Samsung LCD TV
I think its the popcorn saying to the TV its changing resolution so the TV resets its self to the new res. My PS3 does it when starting a game or a DVD - but i think the PS3 does actually change res where i dont think the popcorn always does. EG. when playing music files. |

RE: A-110 changes resolution when playing video or audio
I just got an A-110 today and have the same problem. Although, when stopping the video, it still switches resolution but does it a lot faster. Has anyone come up with a fix or is this problem even acknowledged yet?
One thing I noticed is that when this was happening, I tried pausing the video just after starting it so I wouldn't miss the beginning but it wouldn't pause. It seems that the NMT is too busy with the video switching or the remote input is not be accepted until after all the switching is completed. RE: A-110 changes resolution when playing video or audio
it not a pch problem, it's something due to the use of hdmi, because each time a hdmi signal start, there is a handshake between the 2 devices in order to set the resolution and the framerate
with all device with hdmi you will have this "problem" Sony 40W4000@2.5m,Harmony One PCH-A100 with 40gb/Last firmware/Power DVD Skin+BR Player Panasonic+Sat by OrangeSAT - Connected to Sony DAV-S550 by optical switch Gigabyte LAN with Athlon X2-4200 s939/4Gb under Seven Pro 64Bits with 4*1To+2*1.5To+500Go+ 1+2*320Go(raid1) HDs Nintendo Wii |

I thought the same thing earlier today so I connected it via the component cables, reconfigured the NMT to output 720p via component and it had the same problem. |

RE: A-110 changes resolution when playing video or audio
I'm sorry, but before having my LCD screean, I had a CRT screen, and my PCH plugged by svideo, and my video directly starts without the 1 or 3 seconds of switching video format.
And with my sony 40w4000, I have less than 2 seconds of switching video format, event on big m2ts thru SMB share by wired network. so, try by svideo, and you will see that this problem is only because of synch signals, and I think via components you have it too, because of the framerate synch So try a crt TV, il you see that it's not linked to PCH Sony 40W4000@2.5m,Harmony One PCH-A100 with 40gb/Last firmware/Power DVD Skin+BR Player Panasonic+Sat by OrangeSAT - Connected to Sony DAV-S550 by optical switch Gigabyte LAN with Athlon X2-4200 s939/4Gb under Seven Pro 64Bits with 4*1To+2*1.5To+500Go+ 1+2*320Go(raid1) HDs Nintendo Wii |

Thanks. I'll give that a try tomorrow. If that is the case, do you know who/how I would ask to add an option that if the output is via HDMI or component then to pause the playback for 2-4 seconds when starting in order to give the receiver/tv time to sync? |

RE: A-110 changes resolution when playing video or audio
Will be getting my 110 this week. I hope I can work around this issue because I play allot of music and was looking forward. Now to hear this is a bit disheartening.

Hopefully the sync refreshing gets fixed/removed. davidrose9: The video syncing happens when I play audio files but the song doesn't actually start until the syncing has completed. It doesn't cut off playing the start of the song. I noticed that when I stop playing music/video, it switches back to the menu without doing a tv sync so obviously the NMT can do it properly. |

RE: A-110 changes resolution when playing video or audio
I am sorry, but the fact that this problem occurs only when using HDMI does not prove that it has nothing to do with the PCH..
I received my PCH this week and this constant resync and loss of signal is the first thing I noticed.. none of my other hdmi-capable devices behave this way. Hopefully they come up with a fix becuase it is indeed annoying. RE: A-110 changes resolution when playing video or audio
Hi to All,
I start a new thread some days ago whith the same object. Well ... ...I think all the discussions can summarize in one request: The PCH should set the HDMI output of the menu to the same HDMI output when playing a film (according to the "FrameRate Sync" option that I've set in the setup menu) ... and AVOID useless Resync. Only this. I'm sure it's possible and not difficult to implement. I hope to be clear, unfortunately my english is not very good!! See you .... Liuk |

RE: A-110 changes resolution when playing video or audio
This could be a minor Popcorn Hour/Pioneer compatibility issue. Our A-110 is connected to an LX508A via HDMI which acts a little odd - When I have the Popcorn Hour's video settings set to HDMI 60Hz 1080p, the TV briefly flashes grey bars beyond the 4:3 dimensions upon initiating any sort of playback.
I did some testing and interestingly, if I change the Popcorn Hour's video settings to 60Hz Component (but still use the physical HDMI port) the grey bars no longer appear - Unfortunately, when using this setting ISO DVD playback seems to be borked, resulting in a black screen (with audio from memory). Is it a Popcorn Hour bug or a Pioneer quirk? Not sure. Yes this behavior is strange, but I find it more of an annoying quirk than anything else. Anybody else have a Kuro connected to their Popcorn Hour or know more about this? |

RE: A-110 changes resolution when playing video or audio
I have seen the same issue with our PHC A110. All of our other HDMI devices work fine meaning once they are on they don't cause the TV to 'change' resolutions.

RE: A-110 changes resolution when playing video or audio
Unfortunately it is as it has been since Day 1 a Sigma HDMI driver problem. Syabas have been knocking on Sigma's door to fix it but Sigma being Sigma means no progress unless it suits Sigma im afraid.
