Done, new .dmg here:
http://www.lundman.net/ftp/nmt/NMT_Commu....2-OsX.dmg I mean, it wouldn't be the end of the world if it was a .zip file either.. I saw some dmg2iso tools, but don't know about the reverse. |

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 1.7.2 (Windows/Linux/OSX)
Ger, lundman
I tried the new version, both manually (downloaded the new binary linked from Ger) and the installer app bundle from lundman. In both cases mono stopped responding. Anyway, I got anxious and made a Force Quit and got some crash info, for what it's worth: http://pastebin.com/m68c4cb3f Then I started it again, manually, and left it for about 2 minutes. It came back to me with the following popup: Repository error Can't connect to repository server. Make sure your internet connection is up. Pressing OK and the GUI launched. Judging by the ErroLog.csv it seems it's trying to make a lookup before it launches the GUI, which in my case would fail if the default searches for PCH-A110 -- I have an A-100 and probably need to put the IP address in. But it seems it was the repositories being off-line? You can probably see better for yourself, see below. This behaviour was reproduceable. So once I got the GUI up I browsed around and it did not crash as quick as it used to! Yay! But leaving the window for some minute after browsing up and down the tabs, it froze up. Re-launching, waiting around 1,5-2 minutes, pressing OK on the popup and then browsing around again. This time I tried to install the iTouch Theme, but no go. An empty error message with an OK button. Could not press it, CSI froze up. ErrorLog.csv: Code: $ cat ErrorLog.csv Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn. Wiki. Wiki? Wiki! |

.
Statistics March 2009 Content installed in data volume: 45GB Number of applications installed: minimal 26.720 Top 10 applications (excluding lordy's application; they are hosted externally)
Top 5 Themes
Top 5 Custom Menu's
Top 5 Wait images
For anyone reading this, these bug are OSX only Don't want to scare of people here ![]() That is a known issue for OSX: theme upload will not work correctly at this moment. The ftp connections seem to not to be closed correctly on OSX. Your nmt's ftp server responds with an: "10 users (the maximum) are already logged in, sorry". Regarding the hang before start. It downloads, compares and parses the repository files before displaying the UI. It is weird, it looks like it is not able to download http files. Have no clue what could go wrong there. Perhaps a internet hickup was there. Lundman> how is your experience with OSX? Perhaps dc11ab is having some more issues then the avarage users. RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 1.7.2 (Windows/Linux/OSX)
I agree this thread may not be the best for detailed debugging. But one benefit of posting here (or rather, in a separate thread apart from this one) would be to get more attention and eyes on problems; if others can re-produce it could help resolve issues quicker.
From one thing to another; I've seen you mention an auto update feature and pick up on the suggested "install history", that's splendid. On a longer term perspective, how do you look upon features such as: - automatic package dependency handling during install (and uninstall)? Not sure I've noticed any particular dependency just yet, but maybe it could be good to separate common libraries, extra commands etc.? - optional/custom destination (e.g. on install on external storage or mounted share)? Perhaps too complicated to make it feasible? But people with no internal hdd would probably jump with joy. My apologies if this has been debated previously in the thread, I've been zooming in and out of it. Keep up the good work, Ger. Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn. Wiki. Wiki? Wiki! |

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 1.7.2 (Windows/Linux/OSX)
No issues starting it up here, takes about 7 seconds or so. But I did notice trying to install something (Weather I think), the PCH started powering up the HDD for FTP etc, but CSI timeout is way too short. (Seems to be 5s, needs to be 30s or there abouts). Let me if I can help with anything.

I tend to take the iteration tests (new software version, test, new software version, test etc) offline. The restuls I always post back. Don't want to fill up the topic too much with the same reports and big stack traces. It will be implemented, one step at a time. Everything is possible of course. Currently I am trying to get the install procedure more standard so uninstall will be possible and will make upgrading and lots of future features possible. EDIT: I also cannot install anything from a zip file using file>install from file. the app just gives no response to any action taken through that avenue. |
