RE: [A-100] Firmware 01-17-090204-15-POP-402-000 (12.06.2009)
oh shit... I just updated to April a few days ago. I don't have that many iso's, so maybe not a big deal. is the issue that they won't play at all.
if that's the case, is there somewhere to get old firmwares? |

Quote:is the issue that they won't play at all No - every dvd structure or dvd ISO I create play on every firmware The issue is that its apparently gotten a litle more picky and some users have had some unidentified problems playing some dvd iso's You can allways get old firmwares the same place you get the new firmware

RE: [A-100] Firmware 01-17-090204-15-POP-402-000 (12.06.2009)
My DVD structures and ISO play fine on this firmware version, but like Spawn says, it does seem like this is not the case for everyone.
In other words, if you are happy with your ISO and DVD playback already, have not had issues with .ts files, and are not bothered by DTS dropouts, then you probably don't need to update yet. Media tank:A-100 & C-200 TV:Panasonic TH-50PY800MT (HDMI) Audio:Logitech Z-5500 (Coaxial) |

RE: [A-100] Firmware 01-17-090204-15-POP-402-000 (12.06.2009)
thanks. I'll see how this new firmware deals with them first. I always jsut use the PCH built -in firmware update thing so I've never had to download the firmware from this site. thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to the eventual implementation of .idx/.sub into the frimware.
if Syabas really is abandoning the A100 model line, perhaps they could make the firmware public so users could create their own hacked versions (like the unofficial firmwares that make the streaming to the WDTV possible). maybe somebody else out there can figure out things like .idx/.sub. |

The fact that A-100 are nolonger a product for sale does not change this. All firmware development are done on the A-100 firmware then ported to A-110 because the A-110 are based on A-100 only with some hardware changes that gets added to the A-100 firmware, then the firmware are supplied to every NMT OEM manufacturer, for slight modification and implementation on all the NMT OEM models. It may be that some time in the future it will be development are done on A-110 and then ported to A-100 by removig something rather than the other way around, and then supplied to all the NMT OEM models. Either way - they are not abandoning development - think about it - if they were that would also mean that all the OEM manufacturers whos firmwares are also based on A-100 firmware would not get updates for their NMT players - and there are what 20-30 OEM NMT players or so ?, and new models still being made and offered for sale and new OEM manufacturers joining. It is unthinkable, unimaginable that every OEM manufacturer would be left out in the cold from now on - so can we please try to forget the whole idea that keeps popping up about Syabas completely abandoning their current model line - just because they spend some time and ressources preparing a new high end model to compliment the current lineup. Theres a very long request list - and let me say straigth up that every single request ever made are not going to make it - but thats the nature of requests, they are only requests, not demands that users can make just because they made a request. Some will be made - Im personally hoping very much for IDX/SUB - and some definately wont. Some bugs will be fixed, and again some may never be because nothing in this world are completely perfect in every single aspect. Obviously since the platform are now almost 2 years old - development of new exiting revolutionary features may slow down, and focus may possibly be more on maturity development (bugfixing etc.) or adding specific features which are supplied in competing products - but whatever happens I simply cannot see why Syabas should completely stop developing on the current platform. There are still many players of current platform that can be sold and maintained - not everyone needs the latest and most expensive model or the extra features this may offer - and with competing lower end products coming out some maintenance will be required to stay in business and compete with these. Syabas cant live on only on their top model, and leave all sales of lower end models to the competition. So dont give up people - have faith - our A-100's, A-110's, HDX's, Egreats, Icybox's, Kaiboer etc. etc. etc. are not dead just yet

Nice to hear that the A100 is not dead.
Syabase must give more information about what they are doing with firmware etc. So more information is required for us (users). |

I suppose from the point of view of the users here on the board, our frustration might come from Syabas' silence on what is really being worked on, and what is not. If our requests are being heard, and they are being looked into, making that information public would be really nice. Posting bugs and problems, and getting "nothing" but users' guesswork as feedback - if any feedback at all - rather makes me look for another product instead of holding on for a possible fix. |

RE: [A-100] Firmware 01-17-090204-15-POP-402-000 (12.06.2009)
I agree Cactus, I fully understand frustration based on lack of information - and I allways recommend a higher level of information at any chance I get - even if its a negative. Its better getting told straight up, sorry this or that feature cannot be prioritised for whatever reason, rather than just silence - and its allways easier to wait for something if one is reassured its coming. But its a thin line - not everything can be made public information for competitive reasons etc. and theres allways the posbility that something gets started but cant finish for some technical reason that cant be solved. But Ill try and pick a litle bit more on Syabas to see if we cant get a bit better information flow

This is better then mine, about 800-1200kB. |

RE: [A-100] Firmware 01-17-090204-15-POP-402-000 (12.06.2009)
Over a year now since it was raised and still no AAC-HE LATM audio support. And it's been noted on the boards that the SDK now supports it. Everytime there is a firmware release I look forlornly to see if this support has arrived and nothing. I guess I must be lucky or have modest needs since I have yet to see any features or fixes in the past 3-4 firmware releases that impact me.
