From a quick glance over it looks really good, I like the blocking lines, keeps it much more contained and it flows much better. I like your tweaks as well Big Grin

Needs a few edits for wording here and there, one of the pics needs updated for accuracy, and a few other minor things. I'll send you a PM soon with the edit's, but as it is 5am here, I really need to get some sleep, so it will be a little bit before I get to that.

All in all, I think it makes a pretty solid first run Cool

I went ahead and signed up on your site as a contributor as well.

RE: YAMJ Step-by-Step setup for Dummies - I need some guinea pigs to test and advise
hi

I have eGreat M31B and followed your instructions to dot. I do not have a HDD in the eGreat as you say you dont need one.

All went ok, I got everything setup and content has been downloaded.

However, when I go to my shares in my eGreat it just opens the usual blue menu listing the folders, not the movie thumbnails.

the YAMJ is sitting on my C drive in C:\YAMJ , how does the NMT know to read the data from that folder ? this is what I dont understand ...

many thanks in advance for any tips

apologies, I read the instructions again ...

the jukebox needs to sit in the same folder as my shared movies so when the NMT tries to access that folder, it picks up the index.htm

glad you were able to fix you own issue, sometimes re-reading slowly is the key. If you have any more issues, feel free to post and we'll be happy to help you get them straightened out.

I am absolutely loving how smart the menu is ... and was surprised that it downloaded over 400MB worth of data / images ... I love how it recognises the TV shows and each individual episode ... absolutely awesome ....

RE: YAMJ Step-by-Step setup for Dummies - I need some guinea pigs to test and advise
First off thanks for the great guide! I just recieved my Popcorn Hour a couple days ago and I was up and running the YAMJ in roughly 30 minutes like you stated (including downloads). I do have a couple of questions though:

1. I'm only storing my movies on an external harddrive and I didn't do the WinBolic portion and it seemed to work fine on my first movie. Do I need to do that step at any point if I'm only store my movies on the one external harddrive?

2. I'm also getting the resolution, sound quality, etc when I click on the movie instead of the actors and so on. How do I fix this? If I missed it earlier in the posts I apoligize.

3. Is there a way to have the YAMJ automatically load when the popcorn hour boots up instead of having to go through all the directories to find the index file?

Thanks in advance for your help!

1. If that is the only drive you will be using, it is not really necessary for your setup. However, if you add drives in the future, it would be advisable, as it really solves a lot of problems (mounting multiple shares) and just makes things easier overall.
2. I'm not sure I understand the question. Do your movie pages look similar to this (the background and play button will be different, but everything else should look like this):

If that is not the case, what exactly are you seeing and what are you missing compared to that picture?

3. If you followed the guide correctly, you should just directly into the jukebox when you click on your Network Share, you shouldn't have to browse for your index file. For that to happen, you need to make sure that you save your Jukebox folder into the base of your Shares folder, so your setup would look like this:

\Shares\
\Shares\Jukebox\
\Shares\index.htm

also, when setting up your Network Share on you PCH, make sure this is pointing to your \Shares\ folder. The reason for this is, because the index.htm file is in the root of your Shares folder, it should read that right away when you click on your Network Share on the PCH, and it will drop you directly into the movie wall.

I could be wrong but it looks like you have your thumbnails set too big???

Have you changed the skin.properties file at all??...This line in particular..
Code:
# Generated thumbnails dimensions
thumbnails.width=171
thumbnails.height=243

Or it's simply the overscan of the TV. Most of the TV's cuts of about 5-10% of the actual image in each direction. I have a Samsung LE-40R88BD tv (it is an LCD). This has an option called 'Just Scan'. If I enable this then there is no cut off. It will display the whole 1280x720 pixel image.

Media player 01: PCH-A100, 160 GB 2,5" WD HDD, Composite, CAT5 wired.
Media player 02: PCH-C200, 320 GB 2,5" Samsung HDD, LG CH10-LS20 BD, HDMI, CAT5e wired.
Display: Samsung LE-40R88BD
A/V receiver: Yamaha RXV-630 coax conn.
NAS: Synology CS407e, DS411j 8 TB (RAID5)

Where is the option ? In the TV menu or eGreat ?

RE: YAMJ Step-by-Step setup for Dummies - I need some guinea pigs to test and advise
Omarko - If you haven't changed the thumbnail size then it isn't that don't worry. You can make them bigger or smaller depending on your personal preferences. Sometimes people make them too big and they go off the screen or push other parts of the jukebox like the A to Z at the top off the screen.

The only other explanation is either a setting on your NMT or on your telly, experiment with the options and see what you can find.
