RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.1.5 (Win/Linux/OSX/Web/NMT)
(08-06-2009 09:32 AM)Ger Teunis Wrote: Ohh, sorry. I read your post the wrong way. Hi Ger, In the meantime I did a lot to stabilize my NMT and it seems to work perfectly again. I built in a small fan which seems to have taken all stability issues away. Telnet, SMB, FTP they all run without a problem, also NZBget works like a charm. I also updated the firmware (rewritten the latest) by USB. Everything works fine, but ... CSI is not :-( This is what I do .. I have to say that I use a different name but the native PCH-A110 (?) network name. Mine is called "terrorbyte" also the password is diferent. So what I do is, I start up CSI, it asks for the login info, I fill it in and it connects well. Then it shows the list of apps, all are listed as "Not installed". I select one of the packages, like "Subversion v1.6" and press NEXT. There is activity as it seems it is transferring something. Then when it reports it is installed, it shows me an empty screen with instructions (or progress?) not sure what should be in that screen. When I go back to the main screen and do a refresh, it tells me Subversion is still "Not installed" also telnet which I did install with an older version (v1.x?) of CSI is marked as "Not installed". When I check the Apps directory on the NMT where I assume the files will be written to, it contains no "Subversion", or "SVN" or any other recently added dir. I did try to upload a loading screen through CSI, that seems to work just fine I have the "Buttering please wait" logo now instead of the standard one. That brought me to some questions / ideas why it does not work; 1) Does CSI rely on any config files to be present on specific places on the NMT? 2) Is there a clash between old config files from CSI (1.x) to the new version (old stray files that need deleted/updated)? 3) Is there a problem when there are directories in Apps that are not registererd in CSI, like my own "nmtwatchd" application? 4) Is there a way to clean old config traces so that the CSI will not choke on old files that might be broken on my NMT when it attempts to read the currently installed config? If there are any log files or other things I can send you to aid you in spotting the problem I will be glad to do that.. With regards, - Jorgen |

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.1.5 (Win/Linux/OSX/Web/NMT)
Please use the FAQ section in the first post, I think it will solve your problem.
1. CSI will install a CSI part on NMT called AppInit, but that will be done transparantly. 2. Nope, CSI is always 100% forward and backward compatible with older and newer versions of config and repository. Should be no problem. 3. There is no such thing as registered applications in CSI. All is handled on the NMT itself using AppInit (CSI part running on NMT) 4. CSI offers a Clean and Deep Clean option, completely removing the Apps folder will also suffice. But really: try the faq section first, they will most likely solve your problem. (08-11-2009 10:18 AM)jorgb Wrote: 1) Does CSI rely on any config files to be present on specific places on the NMT? RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.1.5 (Win/Linux/OSX/Web/NMT)
Thank you for the quick reply. Sounds logical .. hard to notice the faq if there are like 93 pages of posts coming after it :-) I will keep you posted. Also I will contact you when I have time to make nmtwatchd available in the CSI. I am struggling with the package format and json contents, and of course it needs testing on my end before I release it..

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.1.5 (Win/Linux/OSX/Web/NMT)
I can imagine ;-)
You already found the http://www.nmtinstaller.com/?p=createpackage right? After you have compressed the files correctly (tar in zip) then you can use File -> Install from file in CSI to test the package. Also before I add it in the repository I do a small test to ensure install, upgrade and uninstall work correctly. Also a small script review to make sure all is in place, no worries there: we'll come up with an package together. (08-11-2009 10:25 AM)jorgb Wrote: Thank you for the quick reply. RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.1.5 (Win/Linux/OSX/Web/NMT)
"The NMT needs to be connected to the internet, the upcoming CSI Will not have this requirement anymore."
good news. I'm waiting new version so much... I can't do anything with my blank NMT (after full reinstall) in local network because of 404 error... (It use local BT and has direct connection to provider switch and I can't up VPN on NMT for internet access). Dear Ger Teunis, have you any "insiders" news about date of release?

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.1.5 (Win/Linux/OSX/Web/NMT)
Hi Ger,
Just a small reply to tell you the CSI works like a charm with the AppInfo from the previous version deleted. I am strugginling with Yozik to get Subversion 1.6 working there seems to be a small issue when committing in SVN. Something with repositories getting corrupted or not read back properly. I will look into CSI soon I have some vacation coming up so in about 3 weeks I will have time again to work on nmtwatchd and make a CSI package for it. With regards, - Jorgen |

Yep, sorry about that. I've contacted the hosting provider again.
Another problem with my hosting provider. I am thinking about moving to an other one, way too many glitches. I'll post when it's back up again. RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.1.5 (Win/Linux/OSX/Web/NMT)
.
CSI Gaya 1.0.0 Just got released, please use CSI to install CSI Gaya. What is CSI Gaya? And here we are: installing software on the NMT got more lazy and easy then ever! CSI Gaya is CSI running on your NMT. Installing software on the NMT is now just a matter of sitting down on your favorite sofa spot, grabbing your remote and selecting software you want to install. This installer also contains a webbrowser interface, so you are able to install software via your browser as well. CSI Gaya isn't as feature rich as CSI for Computer is, but new features might be added depending on the popularity and response. That is very weird.
Did you use a special php or lighthttpd server compiled by journey? What hardware are you on (brand and model).
