Is the C200 able to read VCD disk?

Hi,
Is the C200 able to read VCD and SVCD?
( A-110 was not )
My wife has a lot of VCD and I don't want to spend time to convert them.

have you tried copying one to a folder on the C200 HDD?

the C-200 does not support playback of VCD and SVCD structures
you can "change" a VCD to mpeg using vcdgear for instance http://www.vcdgear.com/

Just for an info.
There is support coming I believe for VCD/SVCD. The latest beta for the c200 is allowing these disks to be mounted as DATA discs, and you can browse the file structure.
Unfortunately in my testing using an external USB drive the files do not play.
So more development needs to be done but its a start.

If you rename the .dat files as .mpg they should work.

There is no need to rename the files. The files with the .DAT extension plays fine from the internal Hard drive. same with the AVSEQ01.MPG file from the SVCD.
Problem is the CD-R disk I believe since MPG files play fine from the same USB external drive when they are on a DVD-R disc.

It is in the current beta being tested, not released yet.

I would have thought libdvdread can do VCD, and might work in llink, but I must admit I do no longer have any. It used to be the thing, back in the day.

I think it can do a VCD or SVCD because the files play fine from a hard drive. The problem seems to me the CD media. The files also play fine from a DVD_RW disk.

I still have a couple of hundred in the closet some where. It sure was the thing back then. You always had a pause in the middle of the movie to change disks (Built in Bathroom Break) Unless you where one of the lucky one's that had a multidisk changer.

SVCD / VCD2 eliminated the bathroom break. Might have been mostly a Chinese standard though - not sure.
