RE: [A-100] Firmware 01-17-090204-15-POP-402-000 (12.06.2009)
Never heard of Netflix??! I realize they aren't in non-us countries but it's a pretty important service and trendsetter. That's why nearly all new devices are proudly touting this capability - because it's a must (at least in the u.s.) Trust me, if this capability isn't on PCH very soon in some way (either native or with PlayOn), you'll probably see PCH popularity plummit... Definitely a much higher priority than aac audio or anything that the community could possibly tackle ..

I have yet to see a single file with this audio type. Doesn't mean they don't exist. Just ask users in NZ, Holland, Taiwan and other countries where the local broadcasters are switching to this format as the latest and greatest audio format for DVB-T broadcasts (10-18-2009 03:10 PM)castle Wrote: .idx/.sub subtitle support, on the other hand, is a big deal. Not to me it isn't - could care less about the support. Which goes to show, everybody has different needs and therein lies the problem for Syabas - how to prioritise those needs in a fair manner. |

I saw a new firmware out there and downloaded/applied it. Maybe a mistake since pretty much nothing plays now. I was hoping it would fix PlayOn but no change with it either. What is the firmware out there that is available on the maintenance page? How do I roll back?? Or is the "real" firmware update coming soon????

01-17-091014-15-POP-402 is the "beta firmware" that is being reviewed by the beta testers right now. Now sure how you downloaded that... None of the beta testers have reported the problem that you have experienced. I suggest you go back to one of the versions publicly available (download from the website, put it on the USB and follow the instruction there).

Done - reverted back.
It was on the regular firmware maintenance page which is why I thought it was ready to play with. No kidding - nothing would play. Maybe more memory is being used or something. And I was really hoping the PlayOn cabability would be fixed - alas, no go... Hmm, I'm programming this right now, well, I'll notice if it breaks soon I suppose

RE: [A-100] Firmware 01-17-090204-15-POP-402-000 (12.06.2009)
Are you or anybody testing this firmware version with PlayOn? PlayOn didn't seem like it changed at all when I tried it with this version. It repeatedly lost contact with the PlayOn server, as usual. This is the main reason I'm interested in this latest firmware. So I'd appreciate someone letting us know if this version is supposed to address that. otherwise I'll probably avoid it since it messed stuff up.
Regarding movie playback, sometimes I got a message saying it couldn't play the file but most of the time it just returned to the menu immediately with no message!? (10-20-2009 11:39 PM)zOOge Wrote: Hmm, I'm programming this right now, well, I'll notice if it breaks soon I suppose |

RE: [A-100] Firmware 01-17-090204-15-POP-402-000 (12.06.2009)
I installed the latest firmeware not realising it was a beta. Hardly anything plays now. Wife not happy so I'm not happy
![]() I'll have to downgrade. What a waste of time.... EDIT: Oh wait, a reboot fixed the issues |

Reproducing them here word for word - The difference is this: There are hundreds of posts with the way to fix the problem. With the A100 or any popcorn hour machine, you have no way to do this. I had the no menu sound issue on my XBMC Live box with Zotac Ion/Atom board. I did a search and found my answer right away. Also, don't know if that user was utilizing old code, but the "fast sound" issue was fixed in a code release. The rebooting thing is a problem....Probably from a faulty install. My main point is....Yes there are problems but you can fix them. You have the ability to do it yourself. I have my box working like a charm. Everything works exactly how I want it to. I most likely will not update my code unless there is a major improvement. I was never able to get to that point with the popcorn hour. There having always been big gaps in my user experience. |

RE: [A-100] Firmware 01-17-090204-15-POP-402-000 (12.06.2009)
I've done the same thing you've done except all on the A-100. YAMJ, random playlist, auto boot, mono, usb drives, http streaming and it all works great except for PLAYON - the last piece of the puzzle.....
This is a great machine but PlayOn support (NetFlix, HULU, Food Channel, Cartoon, Sports, cbs, etc) is so compelling that I would have to tell everyone interested in those to look elsewhere as of right now. The news from the C200 and the latest beta is not inspiring confidence in me either.. Come on SYABAS, concentrate on fixing this to keep PCH/NMT #1 !!! [A-100] latest Firmware - PlayOn still not working...
Oh well - downloaded the latest firmware this morning. Playon still not working right. Another day, another frustration with this. To add insult to injury, it now boots up every time into the dysfunctional PlayOn menu instead of the regular one....
Reverting to previous firmware now... |
