RE: NMT remote iPhone native app.
A few questions...

1. To get BusyBox26, I installed the "Telnetd 1.14.1" app from NMTCommunityInstaller. Is that the right approach?

2. In the settings, what should I choose: Internal Memory or Hard Disk? I'm guessing "Hard Disk".

3. What about the path? Is "/tmp" correct?

4. How do you install BusyBox into Internal Memory?

5. Finally, how do I see which version of BusyBox I have installed?

Thanks Blush

Use this guide
http://www.lundman.net/wiki/index.php/NMT:telnetd
I find it more easy copying this installer to a usb drive and running it from there.
When you run the installer it will ask you where you want to install busybox26.
There is an option to intall it on Hard Disk or Internal Memory( /tmp directory)
Internal memory will be lost when you reboot so you will need to reinstall.

2.
If you install it to Hard Disk Choose
Hard Disk and /bin
if you install it to internal memory choose
Internal Memory and /tmp

3.
See 2

4.
See 1.

5.
As i noted in 1 you will need BusyBox26. I've tried 2 versions and both work fine. In general busybox is a small executable that incoorporates many unix tools. Busybox26 has some additional tools that are need to start playing the files. It doesn't matter if it an older version the busybox.

The installer from the link above will install busybox26 and enable telnetd.
telnetd is need to communicate with the nmt. With this you are able to browse the contents of your files.

I will release an update this week that uses a different parsing method.

This has been released only for tha 100 series as stated. A/C 200 is differnet. Testing will start soon enough on the 200 series.

RE: NMT remote iPhone native app.
Thanks for your support, so far.

I've now installed Busybox26 using the guide from lundman.

I can now see all folders (and their content) from my Hard Disk. But still, the music doesn't start playing.

When browsing the network instead, I see all folders, but I get "The directory is empty" when trying to get the content.

RE: NMT remote iPhone native app.
Just uploaded version 1.4.11 to app store. I guess it will be available in a day or so.
I've rewritten the parsing method since some users had problems with file playback.
Also a bug fix for the parameter file when hard disk was selected.

Teo.

I just uploaded a new version to the app store. Check my previous post.
I've done thorough tests on both the a-100 and a-110 and it works perfectly.

Concerning network folders pch mounts only the last selected network source. So only the one selected netword source should have contents.

Could someone tell me what the difference is between the version available on the apple store and this free version.

Thanks for your help

RE: NMT remote iPhone native app.
Teo's app in this thread is a native iPhone app, Niels' app is a browser based webapp (which looks native, though).

I'm not sure how much time Niels spends on maintenance and adding new functionality anymore, he's been rather absent in the MediaTankController-threads lately, AFAIK.

There are possibly functionality differentiators, but I haven't tried Teo's iPhone app myself so I let other's do the reviews.

RE: NMT remote iPhone native app.
Some feedback on the new version.

First of all: Music is playing! Big Grin

There are still issues though.

1. Some times I get "Directory is empty" even though it isn't. When I tab the folder a second time, the content will load.
2. Some times not all content in the directory is listed. Only maybe 40 of 80 files are shown. If I go back, and try again, the whole content will load most often.
3. Some times folders are showing, that are NOT actually present in the folder I am watching. But they were in the previous folder I was watching!
4. I have a directory with more than 400 files. When I enter the folder, the application crashes. Every time.

Improvements:

1. The idea of having to select either Network or Harddrive in the settings is kind of awkward. I would prefeer having Network Browser as an option, when browsing the content of the Harddrive.
2. Playlists are great, but I feel the application is based too much upon them. Instead it would be awesome, if the next track in the current folder would be played by default. So, if I start at track 5, then the remaining tracks would be played afterwards. That's normal behavior in my sense.

I hope this feedback will help you improve the application. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the input.

I didn't have so much files in directories so i'll see what's going on.

I'm working on some improvements and i'll see what i can do with you comments.

RE: NMT remote iPhone native app.
Teo,

I just purchased this app (1.4.11), and it looks like a great start.
The gear: A-110, latest firmware internal 1.5TB Seagate HD, iPhone 3GS OS 3.1.2.

I installed via a USB stick to the HARD_DRIVE, which worked fine.

Directory listings work fine, though I sometimes get the "Folder is Empty" error. The second try almost always works.

The remote buttons work fine to navigate and play media, and I'm able to build and play playlists.

Initially, I was having a problem playing media directly, however, I realized this was a configuration error on my part: I'd failed to set the busybox26 path to /bin

I don't seem to see an Enter button anywhere on the remote! This makes navigating certain screens impossible.

Browsing Network shares is very buggy. After reading your note that the pch only remembers the last network shared, I tried changing my Startup setting to Network and leaving the path blank. This sort of worked but the resulting listings were inconsistent. Sometimes subdirectories were missing (generally the first one), sometimes they were a scrambled concatenation of several different directories, and sometimes they were duplicated. (i.e. subdirectories a, b, c would be listed as a, b, c, a, b, c).

If you could fix that parsing, this would be really handy, as it's potentially much faster to reach a shared directory via your app than with the Popcorn remote.

Thanks, & keep up the great work.

RE: NMT remote iPhone native app.
+1 for the parsing error.
I have the same issue with "Folder is empty" error, and also some localization errors (due to my french mother tongue, I sometime have french accents in file names that are not displayed correctly...)

I would also add a feature to provide an alphanumeric keyboard in addition to the remote controller (as MediaTankController for iPhone can do.)

RE: NMT remote iPhone native app.
I have an egreat m34a I wnt to the wiki page and downloaded all the files though it said I need to make to file excuteable (This I'm not sure what to do). When I click install to USB drive (not safe to pull it out) I just get a white screen with nothing on it. When I click install throught internal memory (safe to pull out) I get a program found error.
Then I am also kinda lost on setting this up through the iPhone. How do I know what the source path is? Is it networked since I'm streaming though my server. With the myihome application. Also will it matter that I have multiple streamers that my tank picks up?

anyways thanks in advace for the help I'm excited to use this app
