Subtitles for English Language films with some foreign bits.
So... I have downloaded some movies (legally of course). They have separate .SRT files.

Two movies I have watched recently are 2012 ansd the Karate kid (2010). They are primarily in English howver there are some parts that are in another language. If I place the .SRT files in the folder - the subtitles work - but for the entire film, which is not what I want - I only want to know what is happening when there is another language.

These movies are generally Blue Ray Rips.

Is there a way to make only the sub turn on for the bits not in english? Or is it a problem of the original not having burned in subs? I do not know these movies as original cinema releases, so I don't know if they had subs for those parts without english....

Anyone have a solution? Or experience with this?Huh

you need to download the forced subtitle track you can look on opensubs and things for them.

Another option would be to open the .srt file in a text editor (notepad, wordpad) and remove anything not wanted. This presumes that you're familiar with the movie though. Once you open the file, you'll see how easy it is to modify.

PS: Make a copy of the original .srt first. Just in case.

mmmmm.... the problem is that I don't realise this until I am sitting on the couch watching the film - then it's a PITA. And my wife absolutely loves it when I say.. just hold on for 5 minutes... I have to just download the subtitle file... (eyes roll back in head with a big sigh) Big Grin

lol maybe start checking when you go to watch a movie at subscene.com type the name of the movie and look for tracks that say forced or non English parts only.
