I shall contact the reseller I bought it from.. Thx for the info.

I do not believe that to be the cause, so I made sure my reseller (informatique) knows PCH said I should.

What is true for My AVR and Display might not be for yours...
I cant say your C200 has a defect... and in fact I doubt it very much...

I think the communication between the C200 and your AVR/Display does not go as smooth as mine.....
Cause could be the C200 or your AVR/Display or even all of them...

http://www.hdcabling.co.za/hdcp_hdmi_han...elines.php

The whole HDMI implementation in the AV market is a mess as far as I can judge it....
HDMI is a interface forced by the DRM mob and half heartedly implemented by the industry...... and we the consumer bear the burden...

I have an Onkyo TX-SR508 connected to the PCH via HDMI.
And on the other side I have a LG LCD tv connected to the receiver also via HDMI.

I will buy a new HDMI cable to see if the cable isnt broken in some way..

But Willem, explain to me why in earlier versions I hadn't got these problems and now suddenly, since the latest firmware, I have these annoying things??

But don't you already have 2 hdmi cables (at least) in this setup? Why buy another to test for breakage, chance 2 are bad is pretty unlikely ..

RE: becoming very disappointed
I think the HDMI cable between my PCH and receiver is bad, because of the dropouts in audio.
the TV has nothing to do with this... That's why i want to buy a new one (a spare one is always good..Wink ) so I can test the audio if it still has dropouts.

I have a A200 connected to a Onkyo TX-SR508 with the HDMI cable that came with the A200. The receiver is connected to a Panasonic plasma tv with a new HDMI1.4 cable.
I have not noticed the problems you are reporting.

The old Firmware was build on the concept of stating device capabilities in your setup configuration menu.
The new Firmware is based on the new SDK from Sigma and forces HDMI handshakes on capabilities between devices and overruling any configuration setting.
Setting say A.... device say B or nothing.... A is canceled...
That is the HDMI interface protocol standard...

Although this is the new SIGMA sdk i don't think you were prohibyted to include the old sdk for compatibility reasons...

Forcing a "betatesting sdk" using the money of the clients it's just a commercial suicide...

Evidentlty you have not these problems and your commercial status is ok.
Your commercials mut have done a good work to put up a hiding fog with fiddlediddle announces to the press.

I myself was leaded to think reading the press (Even specialized) that this was a gret product with great listed feautures.
Yes "listed", and "potential" but...

The only fact that i can call myself "fortunate" to have it working "almost" 100% except the fact that i can't see the half of the blurays (those made with vc1), lead me to start think about reading the date of my warranty ending... and it's not an easy think because i though this product had potentials.

RE: becoming very disappointed
I just RMAed my C200 because PCH claims it is a mainboard failure.

They did not require me to do any testing and I find that weird. How can they just pronounce it a mainboard failure? I would have expected at least to have to downgrade my firmware to see if the problem goes away or not (so that it indeed is a software issue or not). But they were persistent about it. I told my reseller that I RMAed on instruction of PCH, not on my own account, and included the issue. Anyhow, this makes me think that maybe certain series of the C200 may have known issues with the new software.

@tlen
What do you mean with "i don't think you were"?..... I.m not Syabas or PCH..

SDK stands for Software Development Kit.... merging Old and New Libraries is a guaranteed failure I would think..

There is no such thing as a "betatesting SDK"

I have no problems watching VC-1 bluray rips...

It's not about potential it's about what is does in the right setup.... know any product that does a better job?

I thougt that we, users are doing betatesting of the new SDK daily...

Semantics... don't think Sigma released the SDK with the label Beta release...

Don't confuse the Software Development Kit with whatever is or will be developed with that kit....
A SDK is a library of parts and a set of tools that allow you to create Firmwares for their Chip...

@Willem53

For "you" i intended the development people or whetever on the "other side", and in this sense you too are a part of it (as moderator).

"A SDK is a library of parts and a set of tools that allow you to create Firmwares for their Chip"

Yes, and you build the "driver" or the "module" for the HDMI from that SDK.

What i was saying is that the firmware could include both the old part made from the old sdk and the new from the new sdk.

I'm not into firmware development, but i think the firmware too is made of module, loaded in sequence, so that a "Choice" + a "Reboot" could load the old firmware hdmi part. I don't think it would be so complicated (i have c++ programming experience).

RE: becoming very disappointed
the boot is from a read only flash and it's not that simple to just "swap out modules".

Have you considered engaging your avr and tv makers to see if they have a software upgrade? they do make them

Read up on HDCP compliance and the risk manufacturers run.. if they dont do HDMI by the DRM book...

when your write 'I think' do you mean 'I assume' or 'I know for a fact..'
Cause I dont know for a fact.... that what you suggest is possible... Me being from "the other side" Big Grin
