SlySoft
FYI

Quote:As of January 1st, 2011, SlySoft will discontinue the 'lifetime' update
subscription. This is being announced well in advance to give everybody
a final opportunity to acquire SlySoft products and product upgrades
with lifetime free updates and renew limited subscriptions to lifetime.

To make your decision even easier, you'll get a 20% discount, applicable
to all products including upgrades from AnyDVD to AnyDVD HD and renewals
of update subscriptions for all SlySoft products.

This promotion is only valid until Friday, December 31 2010, so if you
are entertaining the thought of purchasing one or more of our products,
now is the right time to act ...

If you plan to upgrade an AnyDVD license to AnyDVD HD, please do so prior
to purchasing subscription renewals:

Remuxes, Captures and Transcodes done on a desktop running;

RE: SlySoft
That's pretty interesting, I wonder why they're getting rid of it.

I upgraded to lifetime last year, so I should be good to go, but it does strike me as a tad bit odd.

Thanks for the heads up tho, that's good information for the community!

Pannasonic Plasma 50" -->HK254-->Emotiva xpa-5 & upa-2
A100 w/ 500gb HDD, A200 w/ mn100, c200 w/ 2.5" 250gb
Calm 2.1, YAMJ - Redefined 1.8a skin, Music Jukebox 8
WHS ex490 w/ 2.5tb's

Ya, I thought it a bit odd also. I'm a lifetimer also. Have been for sometime. I don't want to cause panic but I see two possibilities;
1) They see more money in yearly subs but want to mellow out complaints before they go that way.
2) It's a money grab before they go bye-bye.

I don't follow their forums but probably there is some lively chat going on.

They have been A+ up to now and I hope #1 is the reason.

That's certainly possible... playon pretty much did the same exact thing. Along with another piece of software.

Unfortunately this was my very first thought too. Alarms went off in my head that they needed to raise some cash/capital quick... But who knows.

RE: SlySoft
I hope you are right in that they are just raising cash. Great software and I recommend getting it before the lifetime runs out.

Public service announcement: SlySoft are about to end their 'lifetime' subscriptions
Hey folks,

If you're in two minds at all about whether or not to buy a lifetime subscription to AnyDVD HD, CloneDVD, or other SlySoft products, you have until 31 December to make your mind up. As of 1 January 2011, the option to buy lifetime subscriptions will no longer be available.

Now, I don't work for SlySoft, so I have no vested interest in saying this... but AnyDVD HD would be a steal at twice the price. If you think you're ever going to need a reliable DVD and/or Blu-ray decrypter, you really should buy yourself a lifetime subscription. While you still can...!

That is all,

DH.
