C-200 can't play .f4v video
Hi,
I've got a .f4v video but PCH C-200 can't see it so it can't either be played. Here's a screenshot form MediaInfo: http://img707.imageshack.us/i/f4vw.jpg/ VLC, Splash PRO and WMP can play it. Could you tell me why C-200 doesn't support this type of video? |

RE: C-200 can't play .f4v video
I can tell you that what plays on a PC has no correlation as to what will play on a hardware player. A PC uses software to play files and a PC with its powerful CPU and memory resources can playback more than any hardware player can.
Hardware players have set specifications that a file must comply with to play. Hardware players do not have the cpu and memory to playback anything you throw but they are specifically their to play media so despite their low cpu/memory they perform well. Think of a PC as Hummer that you can drive anywhere and a hardware player as a race car that will go fast but requires a smooth surface. RE: C-200 can't play .f4v video
So that means that hardware players won't ever support .f4v?
When C-200 can play video with 100 Mbps bitrate, it should play video with 8 Mbps bitrate too independently of video format. When I render .f4v to .mp4, C-200 plays it with no problem. |

RE: C-200 can't play .f4v video
It means as far as this product is concerned, it doesn't support .f4v.
If you already have a process to convert .f4v to .mp4 then pretty much that's how it has to be for now. A200 connected to 32" Samsung UA32C5000 C200 connected to Denon 1610 AVR and 42" LG 42LH50YR Encore ENHGS-500 5 port Gigabit switch. |

RE: C-200 can't play .f4v video
Just change the file extension from .f4v to .mp4 and the C-200 will see the file and play it fine. I've been able to play .f4v files on all media players that handle mp4/H.264 codec with this simple fix. No recoding required.

Depends what's in the container, think you can also try swf but may be wrong on that one.

Then look at the top of the folder and go to Organize --> Folder and Search Options. A new box will pop up. Click on the View tab and uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types.' You will now see file names with their corresponding file types (vacation.flv versus just vacation). Change the file extension from .flv to .mp4 for all of the videos. Once that's done, go back to Folder and Search Options....View Tab....and check 'Hide extensions for known file types.' Done! |

RE: C-200 can't play .f4v video
when I have f4v files, I just drag and drop them one by one to mkvtoolnix and remux them as mkv. never had a problem with the resulting files.
