RE: BBC iPlayer? - Syabas App
The BBC iPlayer would be nice.
But my big dream: ARD and ZDF Mediathek. They are like BBC iPlayer, but only for German TV Channels ARD and ZDF. Look: http://www.ardmediathek.de/ard/servlet/ (Flash or Windows Media format) http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/#/hauptna...startseite (Flash) http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/hauptnavi...?flash=off (HTML) I mean... the Popcorn have flash. Possible to run ARDmediathek and ZDFmediathek on the popcorn? |

RE: BBC iPlayer? - Syabas App
Would LOVE iplayer.
Not sure on youview, as I think that venture will be getting revenue from sales of boxes/licencing. Does linux have iplayer? Samsung PS51d8000, Onkyo 509, Tannoy EFX5.1, Xbox 360, Popcornhour C200, Sky+HD, Wii, Harmony one |

I have said before that i have iplayer working on my C200, but can only download then watch, due to the streams being in flv format i can not get it to stream. I dont know if the 200 series can be made to play flv in the future, if not then i cant see iplayer comming.

RE: BBC iPlayer? - Syabas App
Well we had iplyer in the release notes of a beta, quickly withdrawn and its gone a little quiet. Whether its iminent and as its ready in firmware to be patched in could be added at the last stage to the next open firmware as they dont want to scupper negotiations or whether this YouView has come in for consideration I dont know.
Steve at Syabas has let us know of potential services that we wanted that we know are not interested, Spotify and Pandora being the last two and will let us have an update we'll see. If we get to RC and see/hear of nothing I'll try and get something from Steve. Though having iPlayer would be exciting, I'm anticipating the international availability later this year as long as the price isn't too high. Are you using this from within the UK, or have you gotten it to work internationally? |

RE: BBC iPlayer? - Syabas App
Ive posted it in somewhere, ill try to link to it.
Its all done in telnet via a perl script. Ive asked if someone could write a htlm page that could be used as a front end, and that way we would have a iplayer that people could use, maybe not to stream but atleast be able to download. Im in the UK, but i think the script has options for using a proxy so other locations can use it. edit http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...#pid444202 Just checked add it does support proxys Code: get_iplayer --proxy=http://[username:password@]<server>:<portSee links in the other thread for other commands. Well whilst I would hope that non-UK license payers would be able to access BBC iplayer programs it would be a big step for Syabas to get iplayer up and running for us UK'ers. Then other non-USA content providers aswell that other Euro country owners would love to see negotiated.. We dont all live in USA and have Netflix or other online googles on. I dont mind catching up on a few TV episodes ive missed in lowbitrate online streaming. Can't say I'd ever use any of movie online content providers. Having got my new TV and HD capable media players, that I go with for picture quality (Sigma chips) as opposed to other chip players, its not something that appeals. I've generally been pretty happy with 720p content available through Netflix, though I can't say quite so much about sound quality, but it's great for tv shows I don't normally have access to and drunken late-night action movies. ![]() I understand Syabas' position on providing services for non-US customers as that's their largest customer base, but I think it's one of the things that's also holding them back from being a competitor in the US market as everything here has Pandora & Netflix these days. PCH's lack of these services is one of the reasons I purchased my Roku (and eventually AppleTV). |

Actually Youview has them all:
