No audio issues in various usenet downloads
I've been using my A-110 for a long time now, but recently there are a lot of series I download from usenet that have a no sound issue.
They are all SD HDTV releases from one particular group and have similar properties when viewed with GSpot or MediaInfo. Releases from 3 other groups play just fine and the only noticable difference files from those groups and those with a problem is that GSpot mentions "[ISFT] Lavf53.2.0" (and some JUNK headers NOT present in the problematic files). I've tried to remux with Virtualdub to no avail - still no sound when I use direct stream copy. I've tried to remux with AVI MuxGUI, but that results in audio/video sync problems (audio is lagging behind) and a lot of stuttering - and thus still not worth watching. I am very confident that my reciever can decode the MP3 sound in those files (it can for other files) I'm ruling out that it's a problem with my audio setup. To avoid posting groupnames I've anonymized MediaInfo's output a bit so only the series name and episode is listed. Can anyone confirm problems with those episodes listed below from ONE group? What can be done besides trying to locate a different file? Any other useful information needed to pursue the issue? RE: No audio issues in various usenet downloads
you should have kept the series name but blank out the group name then someone might have the same file to say if it works for them

The original post has been edited and all reference to the group names are not removed - and the problematic episodes listed instead. Can anyone confirm problems with those episodes? Please remember that all 5 problematic files are from the same group. Whether or not other groups have released the same episodes are unclear, but I'm seeing this problem with only one particular group.. |

RE: No audio issues in various usenet downloads
I have a problem with one UK release crew AVI releases that play without audio on the 200. A remux with avimuxGUI sorts it for me though.
Have you done a rencode of the video? Using the guide in How to Get non working avi files playing? A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |

RE: No audio issues in various usenet downloads
same problem here ,
All I see is that the sound is not 128Kbit/s like usual , but now it is 122Kbit/s or 121Kbit/s MP3. might that be the problem ? for example eureka.412.hdtv-xxx same problem with haven S2E1 , sorry don't have the original name for that one all files I have with problems are from the same major group. Checks files for a few weeks ago from same group , and they were then 128Kbit/s mp3 audio , |

RE: No audio issues in various usenet downloads
Based on powerlites idea I checked some more files.
The latest release from the group that DOES WORK (that I've watched on my A-110) was: Code: Complete name : Covert Affairs S02E04That is from before Covert Affairs S02E06 I mentioned in my original post, but then again I've also got a problem with Covert Affairs S02E02: Code: Complete name : Covert Affairs S02E02I've checked even earlier releases from the group and these all play fine (ordered by filedate - newest to oldest): Glee S02E22 Code: Complete name : Glee S02E22Simpsons S22E22 Code: Complete name : The Simpsons S22E22Glee S02E21 Code: Complete name : Glee S02E21House S07E22 Code: Complete name : House S07E22How I Met Your Mother S06E24 Code: Complete name : How I Met Your Mother S06E24Can it be a problem with MP3 audiostreams with variable bitrate, where the "starting" bitrate is abnormal (ie. not 128, 160 etc)? |

RE: No audio issues in various usenet downloads
Same issue for me on the A100 on all those releases by the same group.
None of the Torchwood S04 releases have audio. All same group. I won't post the mediainfo back as it's already posted in the earlier posts. |

Confirmed - Torchwood S04E03 had no sound. Mediainfo (not posted previously): Code: Complete name : Torchwood S04E03This recent episode of Eureka does work - again note the difference in audio bitrate compared to other non-working files. According the the Wikipedia page on MP3, the standardized bitrates for Mpeg1 Layer III are (among others) 112, 128, 160 and 192 Kbps. Every problematic file I've posted details about does not have an audiostream that contains a standardized MP3 stream - instead they've contained bitrates of 121, 122 and 125Kbps. Mediainfo on an episode that does play fine: Code: Complete name : Eureka S04E13Can anyone from Syabas confirm this limitation with non-standard bitrates in MP3 streams in videofiles? Allthough I fully understand the adherence to standards, is it possible to make an firmwareupdate that enables playback? I'm not asking for resampling to standardized bitrates in the output, but just the ability to play the file "as is". |

RE: No audio issues in various usenet downloads
I think the "group" has already understood the problem , because several new releases are working again.

RE: No audio issues in various usenet downloads
Same Problem here with some files, and all have an "unusual" audio bitrate.
Is this something that can/will be fixed in a firmware update? |

What works for me in Virtualdub: Video: direct stream copy Audio: Full Processing Mode / Compression: Lame MP3 / 48000 Hz, 160 kpbs CBR Stereo (Not sure >128 is nescessary) |
