RE: [5 October 2011] A-300 Announcement, Specifications, Screenshots, UI Presentation
So your old Nas, your old PC, even your Networkcard who claims Gigabit 10/100/1000 is lying when you can get only 15-60MB/sec?? sorry but first there is no 200Mbit or 300Mbit which you print, Gigabit means Gigabit it doesn't matter what speeds you get, or do you say that all companies are lying?!?!?!?
Or lets come to the next full of lying Sata1 has 150MB/sec hmm i never ever get this speeds also not on new hardware, Sata2 should give me 300MB/sec and now awesome i get Sata3 which gives me 600MB/sec wow isn't it awesome, but wait hmm i don't get that speeds with my Harddrive, also not with my amazing fast SSD, so i should ask them to print Sata 0,26666 because i get around 40MB/sec on my Sata2 drive and 90MB/sec on my SSD which would mean SATA 0,6? This discussion is just ....... ![]() Regards, Werner (10-11-2011 01:58 PM)Burnerbum Wrote: I hear ya, there are a lot more expensive hobbies, but I need to start emptying my closet of unused media players. 1000Mbit means 125MB/sec it is very hard to find a hardware which will give you that speeds, and if you find one then calculate the price

RE: [5 October 2011] A-300 Announcement, Specifications, Screenshots, UI Presentation
It just tells you which standards it's compatible with.
Just like all USB2.0 hdd are lying, cause you're supposed to be able to get transfer rates of 60Mb/s. There is NO such end user externel hdd in USB 2.0 that even reaches 40Mb/s... Should they from now on say that USB 2.0 is 320Mbps instead of 480Mbps? These are always theoretical speeds defined by the standard. Same for wifi speeds... RE: [5 October 2011] A-300 Announcement, Specifications, Screenshots, UI Presentation
huh thats new my 100Mbit gives me 10-11MB/sec from/to C200, on Gigabit i get 17-20MB/Sec, my Raid 10 Server gives me 112MB/sec on Gigabit, my old Qnap TS201 gives me 24MB/sec over Gigabit and my TS209pro gives me 38MB/sec, so all are cheating
, no they are not cheating Gigabit is just a connections it doesn't tell you anything about speed and you won't find a Device telling you what speeds you will get.(10-11-2011 03:12 PM)alest Wrote: 100mbit pc port gives ~8mb, 1000 does ~80mb and that was confirmed by other users in this thread. 80Mb is not fantastic and does not require space priced equipment. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Syabas Technology Inc. i think you miss the point, what he was trying to tell you was that USB 2.0 should give you transferspeeds of 60MB/sec, you won't find a USB 2.0 device which will give you that speeds over usb 2.0, most of them will give you 14-25MB/sec so also stating USB 2.0 is cheating?!?!

What does it prove? A300's 30Mb has a TRUE gigabit ethernet?! That's 300Mbit. Marketing term gigabit falls down to 1/3? |

RE: [5 October 2011] A-300 Announcement, Specifications, Screenshots, UI Presentation
Exactly, most of my usb 2 hdd give me 30Mb/s in Reading (half of the 'promised' speed!) and 20Mb/s in writing (1/3 of the advertised speed).
I don't see massively people complaining to WD, Samsung,... that they are having a misleading marketing putting on the wrapping "Up to 480Mbps"? These are not only theoretical speeds, they also just reffer to the standard. And the Gigabit Standard is defined 1000Mbps, Usb 2 480Mbps, Wifi G 54Mbps,... This means that in the moste optimal conditions, and using the most powerful (and VERY expensive) chips for it, you might, maybe, eventually, some day, get this speed. That's it! RE: [5 October 2011] A-300 Announcement, Specifications, Screenshots, UI Presentation
If you feel so strongly about consumer protection, I don't think this is the proper forum.
If you think you can change the industry of it's practices, go for it. Doesn't change the fact that no matter how right you are, you can't expect just Syabas to be as forthcoming compared to other companies who do the same marketing techniques. We're not talking about life saving medical devices here, we're talking about consumer electronics and competition drives how these marketing practices come about. I want to say that popcorn ads are (to put it mildly) MORE misleading than many other companies's marketing tricks (as USB speed discussed). And now I cant consider choosing player based on advertised by Syabas specs, because it is the second time (NOT even close)gigabit ethernet, so I assume I must look for proofs about other features... |
