Audio works fine with this app through coaxial for me on the A300, whereas the standard youtube app I get no audio via coaxial.

still waiting for good apps at all for the popbox (still no uitzending gemist, rtl gemist, imdb or quicktime hd trailer stuff etc etc)..

the V8 needs a firmware update to support YouTube Leanback, same as 200er series.
So with next firmware Update it will work yes

Audio via optical does not work on my A300. Neither on Leanback nor on standard Youtube. AAC sound output is set to downmix.

I mean must we have something fitted (usb,hdd etc) to save it?

No. They are saved in a special area of EEPROM

I went to the apps market on my a300 but couldn't see that app, only regular youtube. Do i need to do something special to find it?

My Youtube sound problem is solved but the sulution was more than strange. As Youtube did not give any sound via the optical output I tried if it works via HDMI which I normally don't use for audio. So I activated the sound on my TV set and was surprised that there was no sound at all, neither for Youtube nor for any other media. While searching for the reason I unplugged the HDMI cable from my A300. After reconnecting it I immediately had sound on my TV, also for Youtube. And after that, much to my surprise the Youtube sound also worked via the optical output.
