Is your movie collection huge? How do you find new movies you dont have?

I have about 2000 movies and I've been downloading packs of movies by actor or genre in torrents or on usenet but my problem is now when I want to download something I'm never sure if I already have the movie and have to go check. which is a pain. does anyone have any ideas?

I recently downloaded a program called moviegrabber that you can tell it where your movie folder is and it will automatically download movies off usenet that you don't already have .( but this program is limited to new postings only. it wont go back and check old postings) you dont have to input the name just genre and min imdb rating key words and a bunch of other settings. which is pretty cool.

right now what I'm doing is I have a copy of all my nfo files in a folder and I make a list of all the movie names in that folder and put it in excel. excel then puts the name in one column and the year in another, helps for sorting. and I look thru there to see if I have it.

Any ideas

I've been going thru lists of top 250 imdb movies or someones "my favorite movie list" and picking thru them looking for titles I haven't thought of downloading but then I have to go thru my collection again and see if its in there.

At present Couchpotato does not know what films are in your collection, the writer has said that he will add a scanner to make a database of current films so as not to download anything you already have.

Also there is a feature that you can import movie lists from IMDB, so if you make a list on IMDB you can then import it or start a blank 1 and add films to it as you go these will then be searched for by CP.

once the database is added couchpotato will be perfect especialy with that list feature you mentioned.

I'm banging my head against the wall trying to run the php script for plex or xbmc,, that will import my library.

I have windows 7 and I have no clue I changed the first few lines user name and stuff. just cant run it.
