[Bug] Are Subtitles SUB/IDX are working on a C300?

Hello all,

On my C300 I am trying to run a movie with subtitles; format SUB / IDX.
(The same movie and the subtitles are working well with VLC)

In the NMJ I can see that the Subtitles are recognized (tag 'EXTERNAL')
How ever, subtitles won't display.

Accordingly to product description, subtitles with SUB / IDX format should be recognized by the C300.

Does anyone have an idea about this problem ?

A300: older FW 05-01-111125-23-POP-421-000 and sub/idx subs works fine

Make sure that they are SD sub/idx and not HD sub/idx. HD sub/idx are not supported.

Also try with the Test Files that we all know:-

I seem to recall having problems with sub/idx myself with MKV and AVI when external.

I tried lowres subs. Embedded and external.

From what I remember sub/idx were only supported when accompanied by a AVI. If it was an MKV then no go.

I'll test but I do remember when the player was first released finding that they did not work.

FW 05-01-111125-23-POP-421-000: MKV and AVI lowres sub/idx works.
Newest FW only txt-based subs works.
PGS subs with MKV is just a dream, timing problems.
A300 is nowadays nearly useless, I can not recommend it for movie lovers.
200 series have good reputation, but 300 series...patient or what?

I think that's a bit of an over reaction as you can use text based subtitles like .srt and even download them direct if they are not in the location from where the file is stored. So the fact that sd sub/idx do not display is annoying it does not make the player worthless.

It is not acceptable that low res sub/idx do not work. PGS is a different matter and has its own thread. I did notify Syabas when I first found that sub/idx no longer worked but it is not something that seems to have been picked up.
