Sigma makes there chips with a 250mbps bus. That's the max data speed that can pass between parts inside the chip. There should have been no surprise here unless you did 0 research about what to expect and that's your fault.

I do not want to argue to much but your argument is totally invalid.
Advertised specs of the A300 says Gb network interface.
Customers should not go through the chipset specs to read about max bus bandwith.
Gimme a break.
Anyway, with the latest firmware update, I'm definetely happy, as at least it is faster than the A300 and NMJ v2 is also quite nice and usable.

I dont think he knows the difference between link speed and data speed. The player links at gigabit, end of story. NAS devices used to have similar chip power and although also sync at gigabit they too do not get anything like PC<>PC speed. It's just lack of knowledge that causes people to make silly statements.

First set you,re NMT back to factory settings before updating the firmware.

After the factory reset A300 is factory setting. But still not....

Try disconnecting any HDD or USB device if you use any CSI or userapps. Then do a factory reset. then reboot. Then try a firmware update via USB. If you still get the same error then its RMA time as the player cannot write the firmware to NAND RAM.

Big thanks to Syabas for adding Romanian language.

Indeed network performance is much improved (now I'm getting +45Mbps from Romania to Germany server, compared to 15-20 with the previous f/w with network patch applied). Network is set to Auto. No stutter during streaming full BD iso (Avatar) from my NAS.
Subtitles working fine (on the black horizontal bar of the letterboxed film).

No problems at all with the update, working with "safe" procedure, without ejecting my internal 1GB WDGP HDD:
- Factory reset - old firmware - reboot
- Firmware update from USB stick
- Factory reset - new firmware - reboot
- NMT apps update from USB stick - reboot
- Perform all settings and add network shares
- 1 cold beer and enjoy the new enhanced A-300.
