I too have the same problem on Youtube, after resetting the HD and the new installation as instructed. The phenomenon occurs especially with HD video, with loss of audio and slow images.

I installed this firmware and Youtube sound has gone.
Why? (Sometimes it works, but not too often)

Had some issues with getting an IP at first, but otherwise its great.

The apps market is noticeably more responsive. Would we get a similar improvement if we got the A300 firmware?

Youtube works better for me now, but the audio doesn't start right away (takes ~10s say).

Thanks

I tested it a bit last night, it's didn't seem any better ... I can do a bit more testing tonight if you like. Never ran smooth for me, so I really don't use it.

Is it officially supported ?

It runs fine for me on B110 but on A210 it just starts to play and quits. Has been documented in other threads. No not supported but works fine on B110.

Because many users sent their players back for RMA complaining of distorted sound when they boosted the volume.
Instead of taking it out of the firmware a better solution would have been to disable it in the settings menu and if a user wanted the boost they would have to enable it. That could have taken care of everyone.

I don't see anything better, it must be there, but i can't see it.
Graphics menus the same, the same speed... i had an .avi that popcorn can't play it, now it can't equally.
The mp3 menu is the only change, but is unless, more slowy with a nonsense random voometer (if you pause, it continues moving hahah). I want to see the bitrate of mp3 but they don't do it.
I don't see the improvements really.

But i see new problems: IP automatic don't work, you must put on IP manual. SOund on youtube is crappy.

If the music player is the "flash" version it will be slow until gaya is stripped out to free up the needed resources.

After upgrade to new firmware,i can no longer completely exit apps, icon to go back to app is always present when pressing the menu button on remote.. IT is really annoying having to chose instead of before where i could exit apps completely, and chosing menu button sent you to home menu

They cannot change the behavior the popcorn hour remote through a firmware update. They would need to ship out new remotes. Wait 14 months or 14 years, it won't happen.

Hello,

I hope someone can help me.

Since upgrading to this firmware a couple of days ago my Popcorn Hour a210 will not connect to the internet. I can still browse my NFS and Windows shares.

When I visit the app marketplace or the NMJ it says there is no internet connection. No content works in any of the installed internet applications.

I have tried many times resetting all of my network equipment and changing cables etc. Nothing seems to rectify the problem. I have tried connecting a laptop to the same port as the PCH is usually connected to and it receives internet fine.

In Network settings, there is a strange 208.xxx.xxx.xxx server listed in both DNS addresses 1 and 2. This is not my DNS server.

I am located in Australia. When I change to AUTO mode it doesn't work to get my DNS servers, even when I hard reset the unit multiple times.

When I change to manual and enter my DNS server addresses it doesn't work either.

Sometimes with a hard reboot it doesn't get an IP address. I had none of these problems before with the PCH.

I don't know what to do? Should I flash the firmware and try to go back to an older version?

Of coure when I go to maintenance -> check for new firmware, it doesn't work because there is no internet connection.

Thank you. Smile

Ben

Hi,

Thanks halfelite. I will try this later tonight after work.

Any idea why this has changed in the latest firmware. Reading back through this thread, I see many others are having similar problems with DHCP. Can someone from Syabas look into the problem? Have they changed DHCP client in firmware?

Furthermore can someone explain why they DNS servers default to Open-DNS multicast? What is the benefit of this?

Thanks.

They changed something, And the open dns issues happens when your router only sends out one DNS address, PCH defaults to open DNS for some reason. They implemented some type of proxy cache on the pch now which has some to do with it. Hopefully they can get it fixed.
