Popcorn Hour should react to more Remote Control IR codes
Hey there
I love my popcorn hour! One thing I'm really missing though is that it does not work with my BOSE universal remote control. The problem is that my BOSE remote control only supports a fixed list of devices (although there are thousands, all of them are older than the popcorn hour). It would be incredibly cool if the popcorn hour would just be compatible with one old IR Remote control, e.g. a sony one, so I could tell my universal remote to treat the pch as a sony video recorded. I tried to hack it myself, but the lircd.conf seems to be hard compiled into /lib/directfb-1.0-0/inputdrivers/libdirectfb_em86remote_sigmarc.so Anyways, I would be incredibly thankful if you would either add a lircd.conf or a second default IR remote control config... |

Unfortunately the PCH is not part of the fixed list from BOSE. But there are hundreds of other devices and PCH could pretend to be one them - that's the idea.

Treat yourself to a harmony.
Does the bose not have a learn function? |

No unfortunately it only has a predefined set of remotes...
It would be really simple for Sybas to implement this but for us its really hard cause its compiled code that holds the ir-config-codes afaik... I hope they do it soon. -Andrin |

Ofc I want to use my bose since Ive bought it, and I really do not need another remote. I do not want to use the Logitech Harmony. If we provide you, Syabas, with a working lircd.conf that works for us, will you guys support it? |

I am also in the same situation. I got a great Bose system w/ a "controll all" remote. I would rather change my Popcorn Hour to another mediabox than to change my Bose remote to a Logitech or other universal remote... But of course I would like for PCH to work with my Bose remote...

RE: Popcorn Hour should react to more Remote Control IR codes
not sure if anyone got their BOSE remote control working with the popcorn hour 110 yet? I did program the BOSE (321) to use value 1405 and although that actually works.. it's kinda crappy and not intuitive which buttons to use to control the popcorn. Maybe someone else has found a better way (and no, i don't want to buy another remote).

I've written a modified driver that handles the MCE and Hauppauge remotes http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=22603 If you can use telnet feel free to use the utility that I compiled to create a map for your remote and I will add it in.

RE: Popcorn Hour should react to more Remote Control IR codes
A universal remote that doesn't have a learning function (or updatable presets) is pretty lame. emveepee's driver looks like it may do the trick for you but I think it's a bit unreasonable to expect the PCH devs to address this - it's clearly a BOSE issue.
Oh - and the idea of just setting the PCH to react to a random Sony TV's codes - yeah great idea! All the people with that Sony TV would be extremely pleased! |

I appreciate that effort. Unfortunately my technical ability is zero which was why i was hoping there might be 1 person in the world that perhaps owned a BOSE 3-2-1 AND a NMT that perhaps already been successful. I did download your app and i'll see if someone can help setup the telnet and run it to get the info. I don't have a sony TV and in fact it is RF not IR so not affected by me abusing the code for now ;-) (07-26-2009 03:44 PM)popmatte Wrote: I appreciate that effort. EDIT: I ran this thing, pointed my BOSE at it (pressed the power button once) and the console came back with : /opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/HARD_DISK # ./irscan IR protocol - NEC Syscode = 0x5dd2 (24018) Keycode = 0x4c (76) IR protocol - NEC Syscode = 0x5dd2 (24018) Keycode = 0x4c (76) /opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/HARD_DISK # now what? |
