this problem exists one of my AVI movies and this problem does not appear under nomal paly. Audio will out of sync only after fast forward / back forward movie. however it works well on my PC.

Anyone can tell me how to resolve it?HuhHuh

I'm been noticing this a lot recently as well (with older firmware - haven't really tested on newest firmware yet). For me, it seems to happen mostly on XVID format AVI's.... Never have the issue with .mkvfiles. I'm guessing it's always been a problem, just never noticed it before (I don't normally use FF and REW much).

I've noticed this problem regardless of HOW I re-position the file as well, whether it's using the Time Seek, FF/REW or the "jump 30 seconds" method...

I can say that I have noticed it occasionally aswell.

That however obviously doesnt help at all with either isolating the problem or suggesting a fix. Syabas need it to be repeatable in the lab.

I suggest that next time it happens note down the file specs from media info, save the full log to a folder on your PC along with the actual avi. If a few of us to likewise and we can see on what type of files it happens, through what method of playback, and can give Syabas the file and file spec then there's a chance of them working on a fix.

Remember the usual caveat that playback on a PC means nothing compared to playing back with a hardware player. If you have a divx player than can ff/rw the same file and play in spec that would mean more.

If I may add to this similar problem, all Dattebayo releases have this same problem even before they switched from XviD to H.264. You can download a sample from their site http://dattebayo.com/

As far as I can tell, mediainfo says their files were encoded using Windows Movie Maker 2.1

But that is arguing against the PCH being the issue and putting things at Dattebayo's doorstep if their releases dont play. They couldn't get it right in either an avi or mkv container is what will be said.
SkintVideo rleases occasionally dont play or play but w/o audio. A remux with virtualdub sorts them out. A problem with the encode.
Are the files AVC video or xvid but put into an MKV container? If its xvid/divx and instreado of putting them into an avi they have put them into an mkv then thats an entirely different matter.
I'm in the dark a bit as im at wokr and cannot download anything or run mediainfo, the use of WMM scares me though!

Correction, all DB releases are in AVI, before they use xvid but now uses h.264 video codec. I agree it's a problem with the encoding but as far as PC playback is concerned it's a proper encode, just having problem with PCH in seeking and getting A/V out of sync.

If Syabas developers wants a sample then they know now where to get some if they're interested to make a fix.

RE: Audio / Vidio out of sync after fast forward AVI movie
I have the same problem with avi files containing h264 video and mp3 audio stream. My Avi files with DIVX50 and XVid keep synchronized after ff/ time seek. A workaround is to put the streams into a mkv container but I don't want to do that as I got a lot of those avi/h264 files.

I also installed the latest firmware (04 November 2008/01-17-081023-15-POP-403) but it's still the same.

I opened a case for that, hopefully there will be a solution with a new firmware...

RE: Audio / Vidio out of sync after fast forward AVI movie
As soon as you say its divx the reply will be divx is not supported only divx files that comply/meet xvid standards. Also h264 work great if in an MKV, so I would remux with mkvmerge however mp3 is not usualy an mkv audio so for those files that are h264 and mp3 its like picking the video from an mkv and putting it with the audio from an avi, namely mp3. It's messy encoding IMO.

RE: Audio / Vidio out of sync after fast forward AVI movie
as I don't have a problem with the AVIs containing divx, I don't care if divx is supported ;-) but I h264 inside avi is supported as far as I know and I don't see why mp3 as audio format is a problem, but my knowledge of standards is near zero. The only thing why I don't want to put everything in mkv is, that mkv is not as common as avi (yet) and who knows on what system I want to watch my movies next ;-)

RE: Audio / Vidio out of sync after fast forward AVI movie
I have this problem now on almost every video. I myself have this problem also on DB anime releases. Remuxing every video is not an answer that is a band aid fix. Im not knocking the pch or syabas but only making sure default setting for encoders work is not very good. Everyone knows that a good encoder will change the settings to ensure good video and audio quality on whatever source they are encoding.

Seems like since the audio goes out of sync mostly during fast forward and rewind there is a problem in there implantation of fast forward and rewind
After trying to find a work around. i found if you fast forward and hit pause then hit play you never get sound again until you fast forward and hit play.

RE: Audio / Vidio out of sync after fast forward AVI movie
Ok after further testing. When you have the info bar displayed while fast forwarding and stop and hit play the counter goes backwards if you rewind and the time is 14:30 you can hit play and it will go back to 14:27. I have seen it go back as much as 5 seconds most of the time its around 3 or just a few tenths of a second or none. It also plays briefly then stop and plays again. During this time i think is when the audio is going out of sync. I have tried other videos were the audio doesn't go out of sync. and the counter has not went backwards any. it also doesnt do the start stop play after videos that go out of sync.

Has there been any progress yet.

I have got the latest firmware but this has not made any difference.

My practical advice would be, don't expect Syabas to address video/audio synchronization issues with these AVI files. Just mux them into MKV using MKVmerge as you obtain them. There is no better solution than that, nor is it likely there will ever be.

At the very least, DB should be packing their h264 files into MP4's, but I guess they never learned how to use MP4box or other similar program. The best route would be to put them into MKV, since they are using h264 video, and would be smarter to use AAC for audio encoding. But enough about DB's shortcomings, just mux their file, it's all around better handling for the video codec.

RE: Audio / Vidio out of sync after fast forward AVI movie
You guys are insane saying its the PCH fault, the problem is the encoders that fail to follow the standard. For years ive downloaded Naurto and Bleach encodes from Dattebayo and they never worked properly once you try to play them in a standalone player but they work perfectly on my PC.

When it was Xvid + MP3 in a Avi container it never worked in my certified DVD/Divx player connected to my TV, why? Because after looking at the media info in GSpot i noticed the container info stated it was a "Multipart OpenDML AVI (2 parts) "rec style" " and they used Windows Movie Maker to make it. In order to get it working i had to run it through VituralDub, it became such a nuisance that i just stopped downloading their encodes, Im happy now that they no longer do Naruto.

When they switched to H.264 + MP3 in a AVI container, sure it played, but i couldn't fastforward, or rewinded or it would throw everything out of sync. I had to sit there uninterrupted for the entire show, sit through that horrible opening music to watch the program and the ending music just to see the preview of the next episode. I had to run them through MKVMerge and put them in a MKV container to get things working how they should. At first i thought who the hell would put H.264 in a AVI container knowing that its not recommended then i remembered its DB.

Ive complained to them once about fixing their encodes and got a smart ass response back saying something like "If you don't like our encodes you can take a long walk off a short bridge, this is the way we do things, this is the way we always have done things, and changing our way just for 1 person is not going to happen because we provide these subbed encodes for free, it is not our job to provide you with any service of any kind and if you don't like our subs you can get the RAW and sub it your self"

After i read that i realized i was dealing with A-holes and just stopped getting their subs. I got the [Lunar] subs, the [Dark-soul] subs and other subs which worked perfectly, no modification needed to the file.
