Guys, I put the html file on the PCH hard drive and the buffer time was cut down to seconds.

Also, when I activated the bitrate-setting for quality in edcast to 192, it improved the quality of the sound. Not sure, that if that made the difference, but it was imporved.

Can you please post your exact settings?
I.e. what settings did you do in icecast, and in edcast, and how exactly does your html link look like?

I would like to know those settings aswell, since i too have some troubles with the buffering

Note that I changed the initial pass and the port.

For edcast:

Double-click on the Vorbis encoder setting at the bottom to enter the settings for the connection.

Change the following:
1. check the "use bitrate" box and type in e.g. 320 in the bitrate box
2. set the server port to 8080
3. change the password to "mypass" or something equal to your icecast setting

This is the link in the html file that I put on the PCH hard disk:

Where the IP-adress is the fixed IP-adress in my home network.

Well, I have no internal drive.
I did as suggested above.
However, changed the "limits" section in the ice cast config file to:

    </limits>

Then I made my html file to a proper one with html head and body, as below

and now I'm down to 18 sec from "click" to music.
Quite acceptable I think. There is 10 sec delay when changing song, or stopping.

what delays are you guys working with? with the settings above im getting a delay of just under 1½ min...

Really, the exact settings?
- A proper HTML file with head and body
- 320 kbps in edcast
- config file parameters as above
- possibly putting the file on internal HDD is the best method. I have no HDD so I can not try that.

Well, if all is the same, then it is some other magic issue and I have no more help.

Most excellent guide!

This is really nice. Got around 20 s before start and a 10 s delay.

Now i just wished i could mute my laptop speakers without muting the stream..

Tried this method with my soundbridge. Works perfect if you make a mp3 stream. The lag from spotify is now only 2 seconds Big Grin

yep, all settings are exactly like te oes posted. is there some setting on the PCH that could alter the performance?

Dang, do you really have to have the laptop speakers on?? That sounds like a major drawback. If you lower the volume, does that also lower the amplitude of the transmitted signal?

What about if you connect headphones?
You could even have a cut off headphone plug. Should give silent laptop but streaming music.

I tried the solution proposed here with my hdx 1000, but I hit an unxepected snag.

After 30 seconds or so, the hdx stops to recieve the stream, and I am back at the html file I put on my hard disk.

What could be the problem? And what should I do to removes it ?
