The SIL9134 HDMI 1.3 transmitter certainly has that capability. But the function is highly depend on Syabas software implementation.

yes indeed, but I couldn't figure out how to get there from the main page Is the only difference between HDMI versions just the HDMI? 1.3 is actually pointless if that's the only difference, it's designed for higher than HD resolutions for the future, not current technology innit?

From our FAQ:

Q: Does HDMI 1.3 generate any real advantage over HDMI 1.1 for ISTAR Mini?
A: No, not at this time. HDMI 1.3 using SIL9134 transmitter brings CEC, better lip-sync, bit-stream audio output, and deep color over previous version. Deep color is marketing hype which brings nothing because of the 8-bit source and 24bit decoder limit. Bit-stream audio output is dependent on software implementation. Currently Syabas NMT has not implemented this feature. CEC and lip-sync not only depend on software but require both side of the chain to be functional.

Q: Are all HDMI 1.3 devices the same?
A: No. HDMI 1.3 device using SIL9133/9132 doesn't support bitstream audio output while HDMI 1.3 device with SIL9134 does.

Q: Why does ISTAR Mini provide HDMI 1.3 if it generates no real benefit now?
A: Because HDMI 1.3 might improve handshaking/HDCP interpolating between CE devices in some cases based on ISTAR's own experience. Secondly, ISTAR feels the odds is higher for Syabas NMT providing bit-streaming output comparing to internal audio decoding in the future. However,there is NO guarantee.

Sorry to miss your question.

VGA-Component adaptor and other optional accessories will be available when we establish the shopping cart function.
It is in beta phase, hopefully come online by Feb.20.

1) What is the estimated size?
2) Can we use the VFD to play/choose the music without turning on the TV?

I am on the waiting list for a popcorn and now this has come up.

Advantages for me are the vga output so I can use a 19 inch monitor on it. Probably won't but hey it may be handy. But need a converter if I wanted to use component. I don't think there are any cheap and reliable options to convert the popcorn to vga output.

Applications that can run on the popcorn will also run on this won't they?

It's got toslink and coaxial digital but my amp has both so the popcorns coax is fine.

The hdmi 1.3 isn't an advantage over the 1.1 for me as far as I know.

Bit more untidy if I decide to run a hdd that isn't an external usb drive as it doesn't sit inside the case.

I already have a spare IDE drive but not a sata one.

The wait may be less but I can't confirm this.

Just thought I'd write this so others can correct me or give advice.

My friend is interested in one of these. Well to be honest he wouldn't mind if it was this or popcorn, so my question is when will the next batch be available.

according to Istar's reply to my question on a Chinese forum, the HDMI 1.3 version is sending out DTS HD and DD+ in all channel LPCM, however TrueHD is not working yet. I'm a little surpised, as I thought LCPM output indicates decoding and license fee would be involved. Since they claim Syabas is providing this feature, maybe Syabas can update us on the details.
