[SKIN] RobinsjExcal skin 2.8 *Updated 3-30-09*
2.8 release notes:

-compatible with YAMJ 1.0.16
-TVID's redone on show page. When you type a number, it jumps to that episode instead of playing the file.
-some other stuff i'm forgetting, but will come back and mention later Smile

2.7b Beta for testing... should fix play links for all file types.

http://rapidshare.com/files/191556640/ro...7-beta.rar

This is NOT a final release, i put it out for people to test and confirm that its working for all file types. If you use it, Please post wether it works for you. I ESPECIALLY need some to test if its working with movies/shows that have multiple VIDEO_TS and ISO files

2.6 release notes:

-Added support for BIN, mdf, and nrg

-navigation wraps around from left movies to right, and vice versa

-On the detail page, the 3 movie covers now has option to be hidden or visible upon page loading

-Option to have the movie cover be in the background when fanart is not found.

-How the format of the details page is determined was changed. It should now make the right side column available to multi-part movies greater then 2 files..and tv shows. This allows greater flexibility of how its displayed. More work might be required in this area going forward.

2.5 Release notes:

-fixed iso, and vob's

-added option to add rating next to the title in the index file. To turn this on set index option #14 to true.

-added a filter to limit episode plots to 450 characters

-Trimed down the categories.html file.

NOTE: do not set the poster zoom to true...the coding is not complete yet.

Note: You need to use YAMJ 1.0.14 or newer with this skin.

Note: You MUST update ALL your XML files. The xml files created by YAMJ prior to 1.0.14 will not work. Set mjb.forceXMLOverwrite=true in the moviejukebox.properties file.

NOTE: Please read all instructions and the FAQ before installing the first time
Download here

2.4 Release notes:

-Improved page loading times, and detail movie scrolling speeds.

(sd version to come later today)

2.3 release notes:

-Episode plots available on details screen (note, some episodes may have a extremely long plots and push the middle box down the screen. I'll work on that for the next revision, i've only seen this happen on a couple episodes of one tv show though).

-Left side column, now can scroll through all movies. Page up/down will change the movie. Or you can press up from the top movie, or down from the bottom movie. To switch to the movie put focus on the cover of the movie you want and hit enter on the remote.

-Fixed the play tvid on the index.

-Fixed compatability with Yamj 1.0.14

-Added Top250 to genre/tvid list

-new navigation bar thanks to Mcmilly.

i think thats everything for now.

****Update 12.19.08*****

-Beta version of robinsjexcal-sd released

NOTE: it should work fine, but bear in mind this is our first crack at it, so please be a little patient and report any bugs you find. Most of the credit goes to Freakeao for this. He did all the image/table/page resizing for it to work in SD.

2.2 release notes:

-Robinsjexcal-options.xsl file added. Most options available in the skin are located here for easier use.
-No longer has the scrolling down below the navigation bar on the index problem.
-TIVD's for Details page. both the expanded plot popup (info button), and the left side navigation bar (delete button). You can change the button in the robinsjexcal-options file.
-Added expanded plot to 2 part movies
-Changed the default index navigation bar background (there are multiple files included for options)
-Use YAMJ downloaded tv fanart by default (option included to use your own)
-Changed the link to the plot pop-up to "More..." instead of an image
-added a variable to turn on/off the link to left side navigation from the movie title (tvid to do so remains regardless of what you set this to).
-Other minor graphic updates.
-7 background files are included with the download. You can pick which one to use in the robinsjexcal-options file. I've included Gibbo's background as one of them. They're all found in the "pictures" folder
-fixed the img src problem in version 2.1
-made the tvid's for next and previous movie user options in the options file
-Added the genre "music"

NOTE: You might need to delete your existing ouputted exportindex_item_popcorn.css and exportdetails_item_popcorn.css files the first time you run this. I moved a lot of the sizing to the css file, and when testing yamj didn't always update the existing one properly. This and a reboot should solve any screen sizing problems.

I'm all about giving credit where credit is due so lemme start out by thanking a few people.

-gfb107, holy cow i can't thank him enough. He was EXTREMELY patient and helpful in helping me get a lot of my javascript ideas to actually work. 1/2 this stuff would not be working without his help.

-Freakeao for fixing up the details.xsl file initially, and getting the tv show popup to wrap text correctly. He also did the zoomed posters initially too. He's also been responsible for getting the SD version of the skin going. It's not 100% done yet, but we're almost there thanks to him (and skyking for continuing to be patient and test it out). Freak's been a big help behind the scenes.

-Omertron for putting up with my daily 10,000 word PM's and being my testing dummy. He helped make it a much more polished product then i probably would have had with out him.

-Michaelt his movieflow code was the basis for design for my index navigation bar. I started with his code and ended up hacking it up quite a bit to work for me, but i'm not sure i woulda got it working without the movieflow code as a starting point, so thanks michael Smile

-Robinsj , he's not around as much anymore, but he put just as much if not more work into the project then me for the initial version.

-Garp for being the angel of doom (i donno what that means but i thought i'd squeeze you in somehow...lol...actually ya know what i did end up stealing your plot length code).

-Other guys who offered up help/ideas....pascal, mcmilly, fimo...etc etc.

Alright...sorry for the lengthy intro, but just wanted to make sure everyone got the credit they deserved.

Video Example:

Index

[Image: index22exampleba0.th.jpg]

- 7x2 default layout (very slightly smaller poster images then default)
- One navigation Bar down the bottom of the screen
- The listing is created dynamicly based on the genres/others/letter indexes you actually have.
- The list will wrap around both forward and backward.
- Will automaticly change itself to display the current index upon page loading.
- Clicks "Letters" will switch the navigation to your letter index sorting (no page loading)
- Clicking "Genres" will switch the navigation to your genres/other index sorting (no page loading)
- Up will display if there is a previous page for the type of index you are viewing
- When you put focus on a movie poster, and hit the play button, it will play the movie directly.
- Down will only display if there is a next page for the index you are view.
- When focus is on either up or down, it will tell you the # of the page you're on, and how many total pages there are.
- When focus is on a movie poster, it will display the title of the movie above the navigation bar (season # is included for tv shows).
- The left arrow scrolls the navigation left....right arrow right
- In general, where ever the blue is, is where focus currently is (movie posters excluded).

Now...onto tvid's

First is the colored buttons on the remote.

The red button works the left arrow

The blue button works the right arrow.

The green button switches the navigation to the Letters

The yellow button switches the navigation to the Genres

Page-up goes to the previous index if available.

Page-down goes to the next index page if available.

This allows you to leave focus on the middle button, and scroll through to the right and left without moving the focus. You can also swap between letters/genres without moving focus off the center selection in the navigation bar.

Every letter indexed has a tvid. It works just like text messaging on a phone. If you look at the remote, A is the first letter listed for the "2" button. So its tvid'd as just 2. However C is the 3rd letter listed on the remote, so C is 222.

09=1 on the remote
A=2 on the remote
B=22 on the remote
C=222 on the remote
D=3
e=33
f=333
g=4
h=44
i=444
j=5
k=55
l=555
m=6
n=66
o=666
p=7
q=77
r=777
s=7777
t=8
u=88
v=888
w=9
x=99
y=999
z=9999

Note: You will ONLY have tvid's made for index letters you actually have. So if you don't have a X index page...and you hit 99. nothing will happen.

Note: You have to be reasonably quick with it...if you pause a second or two between hitting numbers it will try to load the number entered durring your pause.

Note: You can see right on screen what you've typed/entered. It will stay on screen for a few seconds even after a page loads. But it will disappear after like 3-5 seconds roughly.

Genre/Other tvid's

Every genre and other index has a tvid. It is dynamicly created so you only have tvid's to indexes you actually have a page for. Meaning, if you don't have any animation movies, and animation isn't showing on the navigation bar...there won't be any animation tvid. If you do, then there will be.

These tvid's work slightly differently. It uses just the corresponding number to each letter. Meaning A, B, C all are just 2. D, e, f are all just 3. Its like if you were dialing a phone number on the phone. 1-800-pop-corn would be 1-800-767-2676 same thing here.

The tvid's are ONLY the first 3 lettes of each word (no spaces)

Action= 228 (a c t)

Comedy= 266

Drama= 372 (d r a)

Fantasy = 326

Sci-Fi = 724

Animation= 264 (a n i)

Thriller = 847

Realitytv = 732

Movies = 668

Documentary = 262

Other = 684

Tv Show = 877

New = 639

Trailers = 872

Family = 3264

Horror = 467

Music = 687

Note: I did NOT change anything regarding how YAMJ creates/uses genres...if you have your own custom ones thats on you. I created the ability to TVID to the custom ones people requested...but thats it. Custom genres will display in the navigation bar just fine, but the tvid won't work, AND when you load up that page the navigation bar will display "All" instead of your custom one.

Details Page

- The left hand bar is now hidden upon loading the page. To display/use it, scroll to the title and click the select button (you'll see a blue arrow next to the title). The left hand bar will pop-up and become visible/useable. Click the movie title again to make it disappear.

- Trailer support has been added. When a single trailer is available the word "Trailer" will appear next to the movie rating. If you click it, it will play the trailer. If there are multiple trailers available then the word "Trailer" will be yellow and when you click select on the word trailer a box will pop-up displaying all the available trailers. Click the word trailer again to make it disappear.

-The plot for movies (any movie with 2 or less files) is truncated to show only one sentence. However if the plot is yellow it is selectable and when clicked (you'll see a blue arrow appear next to it when focus is on it) a popup of the expanded plot will be visible. Its in a larger font so it should be pretty easy to read. I have limited the plot to 975 characters ...if the plot is any larger then this it forces the center box down off the screen. 975 characters is a very long paragraph though. Click the plot (blue arrow) again to make the plot disappear/appear.

NOTE: If you have the enlarged plot open and the left hand navigation bar open. Browsing around the navigation bar will be noticeably slower. If you close the plot pop-up...navigation in the left hand bar will return to normal speed.

- Tv shows now have a "Play All" option where the play button normally is in movies.

- Tv show pop-ups now has text wrapping thanks to Freakeao. So we're officially set for episode plots. Which i'm told will be available in a week or so. A update supporting this will be released when the YAMJ official release comes out.

In general. If the text is yellow...its a link you can click. Where ever the blue color is...is what you have focus on (movie posters excluded).

I may have forgotten one or two things...but i think i got about everything.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do i install/use this skin?
a:

NOTE: YOU NEED TO DELETE YOUR PREVIOUS POSTERS. I have resized them very slightly to make the 7x2 format work on screen correctly. They are really not much smaller, but they are slightly smaller to make the 7 covers wide fit on screen.

NOTE: If the index is not displaying properly on your tv and getting cut off (HDTV only), you need to reboot your NMT.

NOTE: You MUST have YAMJ version 1.0.12 or newer to have fanart automaticly downloaded. Anyone using the GUI installer has 1.0.10 and must upgrade. You can do so by simply downloading the newest YAMJ zip, unzipping it into your yamj/gui directory and letting it overwrite any existing files. Then rerun your installation.

PLEASE read all the instructions before downloading and asking questions. I took a lotta time to try and document everything, in hopes to cut down on confusion and questions. I'm perfectly happy to help anyone who needs it, but i just ask that you read through it to see if the answer is there already.

RE: RobinsjExcal skin 2.0
Just downloaded it and ran a quick test - haven't tried it on the PCH yet, but it sure looks nice! Just wanted to thank you for your efforts in continuing to develop this, it's very much appreciated by many of us on here!

RE: RobinsjExcal skin 2.0
Hi Excal - Having a wee problem with the new skin.

It does not seem to fit my TV screen. I have a 42 inch panasonic plasma full HD. I check the TV aspect and the zoom function on the PCH remote - All ok.

I lose the box along the bottom and the right hand side of the screen.
I read what you said about the covers - So I deleted my juke box folder on the PCH and reran YAMJ from scratch

Any ideas? The only change I made was for the storage of fan art - And edited line 126 as I let yamj download my fan art and I keep it with those files,
Forgot to say - Index displays correctly in my chrome browser - ANd I am running the sleek skin as well.

I reread your note about resizing and have checked the skin properties compared to previous version - You have changed the size of the thumbnails but not the posters - Is that correct?

Nice work - tyvm!

Just started to mess with it a bit. Is the "robinsjexcal-options.xsl" still used?

RE: RobinsjExcal skin 2.0
Big thanks to excal for this one! and all who have had any input on it, it looks great!

I do however have the same problem as dawgnz, I was running the previous robinsjexcal, so I renamed the old skin folder and jukebox folders rather than delete them. Then installed the new robinsjexcal and ran yamj without changing anything else. On my 37" LCD i'm missing the bottom of the screen from about the scroll bar, and missing some of the right?

Sorry if this is because I've done something stupid?

@dawgnz & gibbo

Thats interesting... You are correct, i changed the poster sizes but basicly left everything else alone.

I'm slightly stumped, i thought if it displayed on one HDTV properly it'd display on all of them properly.

@Omertron

What size tv do you happen to use?

@eggman

ya thats unusesd atm...i didn't get that aspect working in time. Sorry about that i thought i deleted that.

FWIW, I'm on a 42" 720p plasma via HDMI and the skin displays just fine - no cutoff problems here.

First of all, thank you very much for all of your hard work and time spent to get us another great step forward in having the best HT box ever ...

Thanks to all involved in getting this release done as well!

I do have a question for you though excal ...

I probably won't have much time until later this week/weekend to take a close look at this skin, however, would I be able to change the skin to use different tvid's for the left/right navigation and switching from Genre/Letters?

Ha, I just took a quick look at it, looks like it's no big deal to change tvid's! Thanks!

RE: RobinsjExcal skin 2.0
@benji

Ya those tvid's are very easy to change to what ever you want.

@Mercenary

We're working on a SD one...its just taking a little while. I don't have a SD tv, so it takes quite a bit of coordination to transfer things over. Its getting there though Smile

@Gibbo and dawgnz

Well thats odd...omertron and catul have similar size tv's and its working fine. Did you happen to try rebooting your pch? Maybe it's cached the original covers or something. If its not that...then its gotta me a setting somewhere.

That is possible actually, didn't reboot. I'll have a play when I get home tonight and let you know.

@Gibbo

ya lemme know, its gotta be something as simple as that. Don't worry i had a buncha problems like that myself when starting out with the new index. I kept forgetting to reboot.

@benji

just outta curiosity, what do you plan on changing those tvid's to?
