YOUTUBE - problems
Hi all!
I've a problem watching videos on Youtube with my PCH A110 connected to my router (Dlink DIR-655).
When I start a video, after initial buffering it plays fine for a minute. But it stops for 10 secs and continue plays for another minute.
I've tryed everithing: QoS, port forwarding, stopped every internet traffic, manual IP on PCH. With no result.
Some ideas?
THX

RE: YOUTUBE - problems
What is the speed of your internet connection? Sounds like it's not receiving the data fast enough....

RE: YOUTUBE - problems
It's a 6000/800.
I think its fast enough. It seems PCH has a bad management of streaming buffer. A problem of many users but it seems related to particular firmwares.
Now it could be usefull to understand: what firmwares run fine?

I haven't had any issues with the latest public release or the latest beta but I have a 20 down/20 up connection......

I think that streaming well with a 20/20 and not so well with a 6/0,8 is a bug. I can understand with a 2/0,3, but with a 6/0,8 is unbelieveble.
I hope in a firmware fix (use of HDD or USB memory stick for buffering if present).

I have similar problems and more. First, there are some buffering problem when playing YouTube etc. since many videos stop after a while to buffer and then continues, videos with higher resolution gives shorter play-time-before-buffer-under-run. I have an A-110 without hard-drive on a 8000/1000 connection, on my computer it's never any problems with buffering. As I understand the PCH have 256MB of RAM and that should be egough I think but perhaps not?

Does the problem go away if you have a internal hard-drive?

Anyone with an internal hard-drive that have these problems?

Secondly: I have major problems to play more than five YouTube videos. After approx. five to seven videos the PCH wont play any videos at all, the interface works though. Only a complete reset solves the problem.

Those two issues/bugs are really irritating!

Exclamation PCH A-110

I have an internal HD with an A-110 and have similar problems.

My internet connection is Zoomtown DSL but I don't know the speed...it is not that fast but fast enough for my hardwired or 802.11g laptop to stream youtube with say a 25% buffer.

:lightbulb:Feature suggestion...sure would be nice to see a buffering progress bar that prefetches while in pause so you can watch a video without stalling.

RE: YOUTUBE - problems
Hi guys. I have identical problems with any web based streaming. on the a110. Tried all available firmware versions, with / without hard disk etc.

Media portal on A110 is pretty much a useless feature as it is. but will be great when they get it sorted outSmile

Cheers

I agree. YouTube + MSP = Waste of Time.

RE: YOUTUBE - problems
It doesn't sound like this is everyone's problem but I thought it was worth mentioning that I thought Youtube and general web based playback was broken on the PCH until I tried it without my Squid transparent proxy in the middle. Once I removed squid, I got great youtube playback behavior. I still have occasional re-buffering but that's normal on my internet connection. I have DSL 1.5/1Mb. Make sure that you and your ISP don't have a proxy in the middle. A transparent proxy can be forced on you by your ISP btw.

RE: YOUTUBE - problems
I would love for this to be fixed - it would be a brilliant feature if the video stream didn't stop every few seconds...

O c'mon man don't get me that I have 20/20 connection crap... I have 20M/1M connection and MSP with you tube sucks big time... If anyone knows the guy who approved such a crappy piece of code/functionality then tell him that he is totally crazy. Releasing such a bad piece of software can only hurt good reputation of the NMT's here.

RE: YOUTUBE - problems
Actually, youtube sucks Smile
Even if you have a100mbit connection, you will not download movies faster than with a 10mbit connection.
Youtube limits the speed after 1 or 2 seconds.

Please read the A-Series or C-200 FAQ before posting, you may save time and find your answer
