Dead Ethernet Port (what to do?)
Hi,

I have an A-100 that I purchased back in May/June 2008. When I first received it I used the A-100 every once in a while, until I began having problems with the video playback, so I stopped using it for a few months. My friend (who also has an A-100) recently told me about a firmware update that could fix the video playback issues I was having, so tonight I powered up the A-100 again to get the firmware but now the NIC appears to be dead. I get no IP address under the network settings, and I've plugged it into multiple routers and the link light does not come up on any of them for the A-100's port. I've also tried multiple ethernet cables as well, ones that I know work, and I still can't get a link. All signs point to the A-100's NIC.

I've searched the forums and have seen that NIC failure is common on the A-100s. I've also re-read the warranty and it appears that I have a few options. How has this issue best been handled in the past here? Could someone from Popcorn Hour let me know what I should do?

Thanks,

Cory

RE: Dead Ethernet Port (what to do?)
The NIC is the number one part for breakdown.

Theories are many the most popular being power spikes so always use a surge protected power strip if you arent already to stop this happening:-

If you bought from a reseller then take it to them to sort out. If you bought direct then register here and create a ticket detailing your problems:-

RE: Dead Ethernet Port (what to do?)
How sensitive is that nic adapter? I had PH for two days after the update and it died too. Even with industry heavy power supplies. Mine was A-110 though.

Thanks.
