Does this work?
Can I connect the Popcorn directly to a TV via HDMI with both picture and sound working?

So there won't be any problem with all the different sound formats not going through a amp?

No is the brief answer!

The TV would need to be able to decode whatever sound format that the HDMI is transporting. So if it is ACC or DTS then your TV would need the appropriate decoder. any encoded format will have to have an appropriate decoder somewhere between the source and the speakers otherwise you will get nothing or just noise.

Not quite. NMT players will decode and down-mix to stereo PCM if needed (except for DTS on non-A110/B110 PCH players). All HDMI 1.1 or better compliant display devices must support stereo PCH at a minimum.

So, if I buy a A110 it won't be any problems?

RE: Does this work?
I wouldn't have thought so unless you have very very specific media needs, the A110 pretty much plays everything Smile

No I Don't have any special needs at all. Just need to know if the A100 or A110 can be connceted directly to a TV with only HDMI and still get audio when it is a 5.1 movie and so on?
If they manage to convert the signal to ordinary stereo without an Amp.

Cheers,

RE: Does this work?
Ah, see lets make the distinction

A100 can decode Dolby Digital (AC3) and play it via HDMI directly to your TV (no Amp required)
A100 can NOT decode DTS, and will require an Amp to play sound.

A110 can decode Dolby Digital (AC3) and play it via HDMI directly to your TV (no Amp required)
A110 can decode DTS and play it via HDMI directly to your TV (no Amp required)
