Attached USB mounted as read-only? Why!
For the first time, I've connected an external USB HDD (with enclosure) because I installed YAMJ output files to it.
After selected the USB_DRIVE_A-1, it started the index.htm file as expected. However movie did not play because of wrong path. There was no way for me to delete the index.htm since it always auto-started, ok fine. Went back to the PC and telnet in so I could rename the index file but it would not allow me to do so because the USB drive was mounted as read-only (ro)... Syabas, why oh why would you do that?!? Having it read-only means I cannot - use the remote's DELETE key to remove movies once watched. - copy files to the USB from the internal HDD. - rename files or directories USB mounted output taken from /etc/mtab... Code: /dev/sda1 /opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/USB_DRIVE_A-1 ntfs ro,noatime,nodiratime,uid=1001,gid=1001,fmask=0177,dmask=077,nls=utf8,errors=continue,mft_zone_multiplier=1 0 0I don't want to hack /etc/fstab to create rw mount because the USB drive is temporary. Have other people had problems with USB drive being mounted as read-only? |

NTFS is read only for the NMT's.
If your disk is formatted with EXT3 or EXT2 it has both r+w. Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn. Wiki. Wiki? Wiki! |

RE: Attached USB mounted as read-only? Why!
Ughh! Ok, I figured that out after I stared at "ntfs" long enough!
![]() The USB drive is doing double-duty as a backup drive, so NTFS is required for the PC it calls home. I reran YAMJ after setting the PC share for the USB enclosure still connected to the PCH. Problem is, I can't copy over the new YAMJ output files because read-only. Obviously I need to connect it back to the PC, but that obviously makes it an impossible task if you add movies and need to update YAMJ often enough. Even if I wanted to use another external USB and format it as ext3 (because FAT32 is limited to 4GB), copying files from a PC to the PCH or attached USB is still painfully slow (5MB/s max). |

Try FTP as it gets an extra 2MB/s, I get 7.1MB/s on large files. Use filezilla.

There is also hacks around that makes the NMT use fuse with ntfs-3g driver (open source). But you'll have to make your own research to get that going.
